The Selection Process for the NFL Hall of Fame is so much better than Major League Baseball's. There aren't many voters in the NFL Vote and they actually meet and make cases for and against players.  The biggest criticism I have is that players from Super Bowl winners seem to get an extra bump and players on weaker teams have a much tougher go of it.  I guess that happens in baseball too.  Lynn Swann doesn't belong in the Hall.  Darrell Green, Art Monk, Gary Zimmerman, Andre Tippett, Fred Dean, and Emmitt Thomas (veterans committee) are all solid choices.  Once again, the rational voices of Paul Zimmerman and Peter King helped to keep out the fraud that is Ray Guy (42 avg, 34 net avg).  Chris Carter, Russ Grimm, Andre Reed, and Randall McDaniel, Randy Gradishar, Richard Dent, and Derrick Thomas were among other finalists who did not get in.  Carter, Grimm, and Thomas may be knocking down the door next year.

As far as Super Bowl XLII goes, here's rundown of players likely to get in right now:

Tom Brady - Lock

Junior Seau - Lock

Michael Strahan - Lock

Randy Moss - Probable, could use another couple of solid seasons and continued good behavior

Richard Seymour - has some work to do, injuries have hurt him big time

There are young players on both teams who certainly have done enough to show promise and they include: Vince Wilfork, Asante Samuel, Osi Yumaniora, and Logan Mankins.

I don't mean to slight Matt Light or Mike Vrabel.  Both will go in the Patriots Hall of Fame and have been great Patriots and borderline great players.

For what it's worth, Bill Belichick is also a lock.  So is Robert Kraft.  Paul Tagliabue had to be hurt today by rumblings from Kraft and Robert Bowlen that the owners are going to opt out of the labor agreement and it will fall apart.  Tagliabue's legacy may end being tied to the failed agreement.

More legends will be written after the Super Bowl.

Tagliabue should never be in the Hall of Fame for covering up all of the problems until Goodell came in. The injuries, the crime, everything happened under Tags, but Goodell has to deal with it.

Seau, Brady, Strahan, and Moss are all locks, and some others are too young to tell.
