Being at ESPN the past year was probably a good thing for Keyshawn. It got him away from the game in a way that nothing else could have done when he left the NFL. It allowed him to never actually leave the NFL.

I can only imagine that when he was with ESPN and interviewing Chad Johnson, his mind was wondering why he wasn't in Chad Johnson's seat. After all, we all know what Chad Johnson is known for besides his athletic abilities. Keyshawn too, had the ability to bring the media around when he was playing. Not always for good reasons.

Keyshawn, who will turn 36 this year, has probably lost a couple of steps. check out his career stats at this link:

But there is little doubt that he would make a great second wide receiver on a team. He may still have that threat. He would be a great accomodation to New England with Randy Moss or Dallas who has Terrell Owens.

More than likely though, he would wind up in Miami. Bill Parcells, his former coach, has pretty much taken over all operations in Miami. His task is to rebuild the 1-15 Dolphins, and bring them back to their glory years once again. And we all know how much Parcells loves to bring back his aging talents. Remember Vinny in Dallas. During the 2004 season, Vinny, who was 41, was given the starting job over Drew Henson, who Dallas said was their future quarterback. We all know now that the future quarterback was a guy by the name of Tony Romo.Their other possible hope, Quincy Carter, was let go by Parcells before the beginning of the 2004 season. During the 2004 season, Parcells said Vinny was the Cowboys best chance of winning. And after Vinny was beat to a pulp, it was Parcells who went for his former glory man Drew Bledsoe for the 2005 season. At that time, Bledsoe was 33 years old. Bledsoe and Parcells had previously worked together in New England. He had also gotten his man Keyshawn for a time while he was in Dallas.

Bringing back old players who were great in their time, hoping for it to happen again, doesn't work out very often. That brings me back to Keyshawn. If he returns to the NFL, only to go to Miami with Parcells, he is probably wasting his time! More than likely, it will take a number of years to build Miami back into a serious playoff contender.

Although, Keyshawn should seriously consider returning if New England calls him up. Or Dallas. Or Indy. Or San Diego. Or the New York Giants. He will undoubtedly play a smaller role, but thats not really what it's all about. I am sure that Keyshawn has learned it is all about one thing: the ring. Randy Moss finally learned that lesson, and came extremely close to getting a ring. Maybe next year.

The difference between Keyshawn and Randy is that Keyshawn has a ring (with Tampa Bay). But that doesn't mean he doesn't want another one. The question is: "Will he decide to return only to play for another Parcells team that is rebuilding?"
