As I wrote earlier today on my "Gibbs Racing..." blog, I made it onto FanNation after checking on my fantasy team on ESPN.com the very moment the Daytona 500 ended. (OK, not that very moment. Seems the Net was down for about 10 minutes, and I had to wait. Always happens around 7 on Sunday nights.)

Turns out I still have to wait until Monday morning before I see how I did. No biggie.

Now, to the business at hand. Ryan Newman is your 2008 Daytona 500 champ. That's it. WHAT, you expect me to scream bloody murder that the Gibbs cars didn't win?? Hey, they had a chance. All 3 of them, in fact, had a legitimate shot at winning this sucker.

But I gotta tell you all, I was nervous those last 30 laps or so. Mostly, it's Kyle Busch's fault for that. I'm telling you all right now, if I get a chance to see a race in person this year, somebody BETTER medicate my **** before the green flag. The lane changes Kyle makes, I guarantee you would give me a frickin' coronary.

And here was RUGator this morning, sending me an e-mail saying he was picking Clint Bowyer as "his" driver for the year. I told him he'd probably catch hell from the Gordon and Junior fans on here (and I was joking about that), but wouldn't you know it?? Bowyer had a chance until he spun out with 16 laps to go. Gator almost made fools out of the vast majority of us. Truth is, I can't fault his pick.

Now c'mon, admit it. I doubt if any of you (yours truly included) had Ryan Newman pegged as winning the 500. Somebody inform Cassidy she needs to sober up before writing tonight. Are you HEARING me, Feistess?? Sober up, OK?? (Or should we be raising bail money right about now, instead?? Hey, I don't know about her sometimes...you know?? LMMFAO)

Anyway, that's it. Fontana next weekend for all 3 series. That's right, we get to do this all over again next week.

I didn't think Newman would win the 500, but I had a feeling about him when I looked at his CoT stats from last year. He was on my 500 team on Yahoo since I made my first round of picks and he never left. I figured he'd be a good sleeper pick and he proved that and more.
