Although the Dodgers are focused their Spring Training success, they are also keeping an eye on Takashi Saito's recovery from various injuries, and a potential Marcus Giles deal. Here's the latest news on these two top-stories:

Takashi Saito, suffering from tightness in his buttocks, participated in 26-pitch simulated game today. His role in the 2008 Regular Season may be limited at the beginning, and thus Jonathan Broxton may be called in during save-opportunities. I hope that Saito fully recovers from his injury.

Interestingly, The Los Angeles Daily News reported Saito was experiencing pain in his right buttocks, and the Dodgers' Official Website claims that the pitcher is suffering tightness in his left buttocks. This injury must jump from side-to-side overnight.

If the Colorado Rockies do not trade Marcus Giles to the Dodgers, the second-baseman has threatened that he will not report to AAA. But, the Rockies are expected to release the dissatisfied athlete if they cannot workout a trade with the Dodgers to their liking. My mere advice for the Dodgers is to come up with a ridiculous trade proposal that will only benefit their organization.

dont understand why the dodgers cant just let abreu , and hu go out there and show the organization what they can do on the field... instead we are trying to aquire guys like crede that just came off back surgery, inge with a hefty contract as a utility player, and now giles. If we want him that badly just claim him off waivers ,

I'd rather have Saito's sore buttocks than Felix Pie's twisted testicle, though I'm not asking either of them questions.

The Rockies would be better off with something for him than nothing.

Marcus Giles has had a rough go of things since his departure with San Diego this past November. He had some tough comments about how he was let go by the Padres (understandably so) and now it looks like more frustration in Colorado. hard to believe this is the way it could go down for him.

I'd like the Dodgers use the players they already have, too.

March 26, 2008  09:46 AM ET

I'm confident that Saito will not allow this injury to affect his performance during the Regular Season.

If the Dodgers truly want Marcus Giles, they might as well wait for him to be released and then sign him. Otherwise, they should trade somebody who will not make a major impact on their Major League or Minor Leaue roster.

Marcus Giles has gone WAY downhill since his departure from the Braves.

You're right about that. I know that he was once one of the most desired second-baseman in fantasy baseball. Now, he'll be lucky to be drafted onto half of the Fantasy Baseball rosters out there.

Thanks for your compliments. Who is this ravensfan?

I did some research and RavensFan is an incredible individual. It's sad to know that he has left FanNation, but he still has an excellent blog running over at the Sports Cartel network.

Ravensfan makes crappy teams intriguing. You've got a good team to do this with.

Spring training success? The Dodgers have one of the worst records of all teams this spring.
