Up until today's report of dog carcasses being found at Mike Vick's VA property, I really didn't give a hoot about the QB's alleged links to dog fighting. I found the extensive media coverage given to the issue a bit ridiculous, considering that people have done much worse and been less criticized. Sure, Vick is prominent in the public eye, and yes, as a friend of mine pointed out, the way someone treats an animal can often be indicative of how they would treat another human being. But to be honest, whatever Vick's level of involvement in these incidents has been, I would be surprised if the Falcons admitted that they were unhappy with his being on the team. He's a great player, but he's also a human being who makes mistakes. Unfortunately for him, the skeletons in his closet are a little more numerous and less humane (and human) than everyone else's.

You obviously do not live in Georgia because it highly effects his status here in Atlanta. This city is sick of haveing a piece of **** be the face of our city's football team. He is nowhere near being a "great" QB. Maybe for 3 or 4 plays a game but football is a 60 game. The rest of the time he is making mistakes. The fact that other players have done worse things does not make a differance. If Vick did do this ****, it is worse. This was well orginized, premeditated and elaborate. As far as him being in the public eye, is this what you want kids to look up to??? I brought my little brother and cousin to the game last season when this piece of **** decided to flick off the fans. That was a fun conversation on the way home with two 11 year olds. Vick will never be a winner because of who he is and how he was raised and how he lives. He has no concept of the key ingrediant to being a great QB..............not all the physical skills........but Leadership and intellect. 2 things Vick seriously lacks.
