I'm not even going to try and offer up any excuse for the debacle going on today. As I'm writing this (about 4;30 Eastern), the Nationals are having their cojones handed to them on a platter courtesy of the Braves. It's 10-1, going into the bottom of the 7th.
Jeff Francour--and if I misspelled it, I'm sorry--is having a field day today. 2 HRs, 7 RBIs. That's only part of the story. The other part that needs to be mentioned, disgusts the hell out of me.
We have absolutely NO starting pitching, outside of Tim Redding, Odalis Perez...and perhaps Matt Chico. I'm seeing this right now, as the game progresses. John Lannan looked out of his element today, giving up 4 runs in the 1st. He settled down for the next 3 innings + before he went out, but wouldn't you know, they bring in Jason Bergmaan out of the bullpen.
What does he do?? Only give up back-to-back HRs in the top of the 7th (including Francour's 2nd homer of the game).
I have no idea what the final score will be, and quite honestly I don't care. Today, I'm watching an entire team quit on the field and on the mound. (Update: it's 10-2 now @ 4:46 Eastern.)
What the frick did I do to deserve this brand of torture?? I want to know, really...and NO snide remarks, people!!! Why us, Lord?? Haven't we suffered ENOUGH for You???
