This is my first blog and I am writing about who the Chicago Bears should take in the 2008 NFL Draft. It is like a Mock Draft, only one part of it.
14. Chicago Bears - OT Jeff Otah, Pittsburgh
The Chicago Bears went 7-9 last year and came in last in their division, just a year after marching all the way to the Super Bowl. Chicago's defense did their work though.
Brian Urlacher was one of the best defensive players in the league again and cornerback Charles Tillman did pretty well. Lance Briggs had over 80 tackles and Adewale Ogunleye and Tommie Harris combinedn for 17 sacks. Well, no need to overstack a once overstacked defense, lets look at their offense.
Well, Chicago had one of the worst quarterback situations in the league. The three-some of Rex Grossman, Kyle Orton and Brian Griese didn't scare anybody. Even runningback Adrian Peterson had a passing attempt, and completed it as well. So obviously, a quarterback would be a perfect fit for Chicago. One problem; I don't think Matt Ryan is falling to the 14th pick and the Draft isn't overloaded with quarterbacks after that.
The Chicago Bears may not be very good at the running game but they do have some talented runningbacks. Cedrick Benson is still young and wil limprove and Adrian Peterson is a nice fill-in until Benson comes in.
Even though Chicago's quarterback position was pretty bad talented, they didn't excactly have the cream of the crop recievers to pass to. Sure, Bernard Berrian and Muhsin Muhammad were pretty good recievers but one went to Minnesota and one went to Carolina. They are left recieverless. Devin Hester will never be a catching star. Getting a good wide reciever would be a great decision unless ...
Well, the Chicago Bears aren't very good at the offensive lineman position and Jeff Otah will probably be sitting there, waiting to be picked. Chicago shouldn't waste this chance. He will get the running game working and make the quarterbacks pass less.
Otah would be the perfect fit

Report Offensive CommentI think that Otah will be available for the Bears at 14, I am expecting the Detroit Lions to take Williams at 15, they don't need a RB like everyone else says

Report Offensive CommentThat's certainly what they need. An O lineman. I frankly wouldnt be surprised if either A) he turns out to be another Mark Columbo or B) they draft a running pack or WR in the 1st round instead
