I don't get it. This year was the year for all-stars to be on the DL. You could make an all-star team with all the players who are on it today (April, 23, 2008).
C- Paul Lo Duca (Nationals)
1B- Dmitri Young (Nationals)
2B- Howie Kendrick (Angles)
SS- Jimmy Rollins (Phillies)
3B- Mike Lowell (Red Sox)
OF- Alfonso Soriano (Cubs), Curtis Granderson (Tigers), Shane Victorino (Phillies)
SP- Tom Glavine (Braves), Pedro Martinez (Mets), Erik Berdard (Mariners), John Lackey (Angles), Dontrelle Willis (Tigers)
RP- Rafael Soriano (Braves), Keith Foulke (A's), Joe Borowski (Indians)
This is what I don't get. How did so many stars get on it at once? Usually one or two all-star players get on it, but I have never seen this many stars on it at once. That is a pretty decent team for today. Think if I did it for the whole year? Fransico Liriano, BJ Ryan, and JJ Putz would be included. I don't see how the media has missed this number of stars going on the DL. Are the other headlines of the season, Tigers in last place, Chipper Jones being on fire, rookie Johnny Cueto's success, making people unaware of the talent on the DL? I don't know, but is the fastes time so many stars got on there at once. Maybe its just the rust of having the offseason off, but I'm sure many of these playersplayed winter ball. Hopefully they'll all be off when their teams need it the most.
