Go ahead, vote. Who would you rather have on your team? The "Big Hurt" or Barry Bonds. Stop. The votes have already been counted. 1 for Frank, 0 for Barry.
If you look at stats, the clear option is Barry. But on....something else, Frank's name is being whispered in their ears.
2007
Bonds: .480OBP, 28HR, 340AB, 132BB, 54K
Thomas: .377OBP, 26HR, 531AB, 81BB, 94K
The production is insanely lop-sided. Barry would be a fan favorite for a single season in Oakland. Frank Thomas will not promote a single extra ticket sale. Bonds would give you sellouts.
Something needs to be done to get Mr. Bonds on a team DH'ing.

Thats not the issue. The A's need a big right hand bat that can hit HR's. Bonds is a lefty. Bonds wants money. The Jays are paying Big Hurt's salary. Very, very easy decision for the A's.
No one wants Barry, and don't be so sure he would be a "fan favorite" over Big Hurt, who already IS a fan favorite from the season he spent here.

Report Offensive CommentNo one wants Barry. If they did he would be playing already.

Report Offensive CommentBonds hasn't ever set a mimimum pay amount to play for. And he puts up better stats. I understand the need of a righty over a lefty if that's truly the case.
But even if Thomas is a fan-favorite from his time spent with the A's, he still left the A's after getting another shot to play, for a bigger pay check in Toronto for absolutly no reason other then money. Now he gets released and goes crawling back to Oakland...I doubt that will increase ticket sales for the "rebuilding" A's.
I'm a fan of Thomas, so I'm not so much rooting against him, as I am just pushing for some team out thre in need of a DH (there's plenty of them) to sign Barry Bonds and give us fans 1 more year to watch one of the best players in the history of the game play.

Report Offensive CommentBarry's going to be fine. I seem to remember reading a while back that he has his cell phone and his Blackberry and he's just awaiting the "call". Gee Barry.... you're still waiting?
