Well it was announced finally that Kobe Bryant is the winner of the 2008 NBA MVP award. This seems like a good choice to me. I expected them give it to kobe, but i still wonder Why it took so long. He had a chance for it the last few years but got beat out. He was before this was announced the best ever Basketball player (in my opinion) to never win this award. He was, and still is, always at the top of the NBA scoring. Not to mention he played through much of the season despit having a torn ligament in his finger. This happened to me and it hurts very much and is hard to play with. So that just makes him more deserving in my opinion.

28.3 PPG

6.3 RPG

5.4 APG

.459 FG%

pretty good stats, dont you think?

What do you all think should have won it? Do you agree with Kobe as MVP? Comment below and tell me.

Scroll down to the end of the blog, and it will explain why I think Chris Paul deserved it.

I'm willing to bet the Hornets struggles in the final week or so of the season, combined with the Lakers strong finish during the same period, ended resulted in CP losing some votes to Kobe, especially as it resulted in the Lakers winning the West instead of the Hornets.

Also, while most of the MVP talk focuses on offensive stats, it would be wrong to not factor in Kobe's defense. He regularly guards the opposing team's best offensive player (assuming it's not a PF or C) and still will likely be 1st Team All Defense, or at least 2nd team. I can't speak for CP as I haven't watched too many NO games this year.

In all honesty, I think it's difficult to say one should get it over the other, but it's likely only one will (doubt it will end up co-MVPs), and it looks like it's Kobe.
