Who Will win the 2008 Heisman Trophy?

Sure, it's early May, but that didn't stop SI.com's Gene Menez from posting his first Heisman Trophy watch of the 2008 season. Here is his early Top 10.

1. Chris "Beanie" Wells, Ohio State, RB, Jr.

2. Tim Tebow, Florida, QB, Jr.

3. Knowshon Moreno, Georgia, RB, Soph.

4. Chase Daniel, Missouri, QB, Sr.

5. Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech, WR, Soph.

6. Pat White, West Virginia, QB, Sr.

7. James Laurinaitis, Ohio State, LB, Sr.

8. Joe McKnight, USC, RB, Soph.

9. Percy Harvin, Florida, WR, Jr.

10. Cullen Harper, Clemson, QB, Sr.

Now we want to hear from you. Who deserves a higher spot on the list? Who doesn't deserve to be on the list at all? Who did Menez miss?

James Laurinaitis, wow thats alot of respect. Just to be in the mix as a line backer is huge.

Im glad to see Cullen Harper gettin some love - hes a good kid. Of course nice to see my boy KNowshon in there!

Tim Tebow will certainly be the favorite, with Chase Daniel and Knowshon Moreno proving to be the biggest threats to a repeat

Mark Sanchez QB @ USC. Remember Carson & Matt came out of nowhere to get theirs.

I was feeling left out

I dont see Tebow repeating, not that he's not that good, but he will have a better supporting cast this, so he won't have shoulder the load of the UF offense so much.

/\ true - Beanie Wells I think has the inside track, preseason at least.

He highlighted everyone I was thinking about.

The Heisman will probably be more wide open this year than it was in the past two years when it was pretty obvious that Tebow and Smith would win it.

Jake Locker from Washington could be in the running, although this is mostly dependent on the ability of the new receivers and the defense to keep the team in games. He was just shy of 1,000 rushing yards last season and if he can start completing long passes defenses will not be able to load the box and prevent him from running

Tebow isn't even the best QB in the SEC East. He's an overrated crybaby because he failed to win the big games for Florida and when he loses he runs off the field and cries instead of shaking hands with the other team (there's video to prove this) Is this what you want in a Heisman?
My Top 5
1. Knowshon Moreno (he's the BEST player in the country)
2. Pat White
3. Michael Crabtree
4. Cullen Harper
5. Chis Wells

is that a homer I smell???

You all have it wrong! It's Ryan Perrilloux! Ha! Seriously I think that Chris Beanie Wells is the man this year. Since 1935 there have been 5 winners that were not QB's or RB's. There were two Ends, two WR's, and one DB in 97.....sorry Peyton. So realistically we can exempt Laurinaitis. Crabtree, and Harvin.

Report Offensive Comment

Tim Tebow. If UF wins the SEC he deserves it.

Hands down....Pat White of West Virginia. No single player, maybe other than Tim Tebow, has as much influence on the outcome of the game.
Barring major injury, White will go down as WV's greatest football player ever.

I'm not sure who will win the Heisman, but I sure know that I am scooping up some NCAA Garden Gnomes! I found this site: http://www.gnomefrenzy.com/ncaa-gnomes.html

How cool would it be to bring a gnome to the game?

Report Offensive Comment

Ummmm..... the same guy who won it last year, anyone?

Report Offensive Comment

In my opinion, Graham Harrell should be on the list.
Chris Wells should be lower and Pat White should be much higher. Like number one...

Report Offensive Comment

Sam Bradford is better than Chase Daniel. Why is he not up there and Cullen Harper is?

Report Offensive Comment

He completely missed Noel Devine. Last year, he was playing behind Slaton, but when he did get in, he broke off big runs for huge amounts of yards. He's for real and, when it's all said and done, will be a Heisman finalist this year.
