The promotion headed a couple hours northwest from its usual home in London to Birmingham, England for Cage Rage 26 Extreme. It was the return of Sunderland legend Ian "The Machine" Freeman and he did not disappoint.
41 Age (41) of Ian Freeman when he returned to the cage at CR 26 after a near two year layoff to do battle with Paul Cahoon.
10 The number of wins (10) and losses (10) for Cahoon coming into the contest. Freeman on the other hand came in at 18-7-1. Freeman dominated in route to a unanimous decision and then had a couple of (10's) of his own. He stated in an article by Jim Page at Sherdog, "I feel 10 years younger, not 10 years older."
610 Record (6-10) of former UFC fighter Ross Pointon after he stopped Ross Mason with a heel hook at CR 26. The victory helped Pointon continue to live up to his nickname "The Gladiator". None of his 16 fights have gone to decision! In his previous bout at CR 24 in December of '07 Pointon fought Marius Zaromskis tough, but was stopped due to a massive gash above his left eye. Ironically...
949 Length of time (9:49) Marius Zaromskis and Che Mills have fought. The time is good for two wins for Mills (and Marius' only two losses). In 2006 he KO'd Zaromskis at 4:49 of round one. Then at CR 26, Zaromskis fresh off his TKO victory due to the cut against Pointon was cut by Mills forcing a stoppage at the end of round one.
129 Ross Mason was mentioned earlier because he lost to Pointon to falling to (12-9) in the process. Well the two guys in the above number Zaromskis and Mills contributed greatly to Mason's loss column. Zaromskis KO'd him at CR 22 in July of '07. Then at CR 23 in September of '07 Mills caught him with a rear naked choke.
As is usually the case Cage Rage provided an exciting night of action. To read a full report of the event check out Sherdog.com.
