A gift hand delivered by the "variable officiating" of game 4...
It's obvious to those that watched game 4 between the Wings and the Stars (perhaps even Dallas fans) that refereeing played a large part in the Star's victory. Rarely do you get better examples of missed calls and totally conflicting than the Datsyuk/Eriksson non-goal/goal. Although most Wings fans would have preferred a sweep of the Stars, there are benefits to a game 5.
1) More Hockey - As the season winds down, despite being on the brink of advancing to the finals, I become melancholic. Although each victory inches us closer to the ultimate goal, it also means we're that much closer to the end of the season. I prefer to enjoy every moment hoping for competitive hockey, overtimes and tight series. Hopefully Philly will also grab at least one game from the Pens so we have more hockey to watch and even up the rest times for the finals.
2) Incentive - Maybe now, Dallas will "step up." Given the history between the Wings and Avalanche, fans on both sides were excited about the Detroit/Colorado series. It turned out to be a non event, and yes Colorado injuries had a lot to do with it. So far, Dallas hasn't presented much more excitement. Now with a win, perhaps we'll see an epic battle in game 5.
3) A closeout game at the Joe - It's always nice to deliver the final blow in front of a home crowd. The total ownership of Marty Turco by the Wings on home ice adds to the anticipation.
I Look forward to the Wings lighting up Turco like a Christmas tree on Saturday.

I guess there is a reason nobody responded to this idiotic post up until now, but I just cant pass it up. Was the closeout game at the Joe? No. Did the Wings light up Turco like a Christmas tree? Yeah, a tree with one light. Moron. Please dont post anything anymore, ever.
