OK city of San Diego, planners of the Gaslamp District, and Petco Park officials. We now have an answer to help the San Diego Padres offensive woes and mainly those of shortstop Khalil Greene - build a Baha'i House of Worship in the area right now!! Personally, I believe this country has forgotten what the true seperation of church and state means. But I'm willing to throw out my personal belief if it's going to help my favorite team and favorite player. According to mlb.com Greene recently visited the Baha'i House of Worship in suburban Wilmette, Ill., on Tuesday while the Padres are in the middle of a series versus the Cubs. The visit helped Greene, a follower of this very interesting religion at the plate later that night in the Padres' 4-3 win over Chicago.

Here's an excerpt from the mlb.com story: 

 "It was great, nice to be there," Greene said. "Just to see the individuals there, I didn't know them, but the kindness and friendship they show you, as a complete stranger, is certainly uplifting. It was a good day to go up there. The weather was good, the sun was out. We sat in the gardens, which are really meticulously crafted. It was very spiritually uplifting."

Perhaps it had an effect on relaxing the slumping shortstop. Greene came to the park on Tuesday and wound up hitting a three-run homer onto Waveland Avenue that tied the game en route to a 4-3 win over the first-place Cubs.

It was the third home run of Greene's season and second in three games. He wound up with two hits, marking his first multihit game this month and only his second since rapping out three hits on April 20. He was hitting .250 after that game. Going into Wednesday, Greene was at .218, with more strikeouts (33) than hits (32)

 So perhaps this is the solution for Greene (.213 batting average as Thursday morning) and the Padres (15-26, 10.5 games out in the NL West in dead-last place) to salvage this sinking ship? Build a Baha'i Temple near Petco Park and allow Khalil to visit everyday to get those numbers up. I'm out of ideas. If Khalil needs his biggest fans (which I'm one of!) to convert to the faith (which seems pretty interesting and makes much more sense to me than our big religions in this country) I'll consider it myself. Anything at this point, really.
