Aaron Heilmann has been a reliever for the Mets for three years now. In all three years he has not lived up to expectations, blowing games and just not getting the job done.
Last night was the game that made me write this blog. The Mets were tied with the Nats 1-1 in the top of the 7th. Claudio Vargas had pitched an absolute gem the entire game, allowing only three hits. Willie Randolph took him out and put in Aaron Heilmann. He got lucky with a great play by David Wright and had one out to get to get through the ining. And what does he do? Allows four runs and ends the game.
So I'm keeping this blog short and sweet, and as a desperate Mets fan, begging Willie Randolph to listen to me and most other Mets fans- please, Willie, designate Heilmann for assignment.

Time to let Heilmann go! He just brings the team down when he is called from the pen. Team-mates have no confiedance in this guy.

Report Offensive Commenthere is the blog I posted, Another horrible performance by the Mets bullpen, specifically, Aaron Heilman. His numbers to date - 21 innings, 23 hits, 18 runs, a 5.82 ERA - suggest he needs a stint with the Zephyrs. Is there a Mets fan out there who doesn't wince in anticipated pain whenever Randolph calls on this guy ? Please Willie, find someone else to pitch the seventh (sixth?). If you can't send Heilman down, start him and see if he can't go more than four innings or shop him and see if there are any GMs who haven't been watching any Mets games.

Report Offensive CommentThe time is now to let Heilmann go. Team-mates have no confidence in him and seems to loose it when he is called from the pen. Let the man go.

Report Offensive Commentthis team continues to be an enigma, and their 3 losses out 4 of to a cold and not that good Nats team speaks volumes (to me). Their lack of hitting makes efforts like Heilman's seem even worse then they already are. We have seen (at least those who are watching) the bad and the ugly Heilman more and more. Willie's insisistence on getting him going might get Willie going right to the unemployment line.
A handfull of hits against the likes of Tim Redding and Bergmann today has me looking through my collection of movies for a better BOOB tube experience.
Is it time to fire hitting coach HOJO yet?
