What makes a good FN username?

Fannation usernames are extremely important to any member. It helps to give people on the site recognition of who you are. You would have no clue who was writing this had it not been for my name. These pieces of information are so important to people's fame on this site. So what makes a good name?

Good FN usernames are one of two things. One is having one short part of your name that can be used to put endings at the end. For endings, put teams you are pulling for what is going on in your life. Keep the basic name short so you have enough space for an ending. Good examples of these?

J. Hova

Just to name a few. Names shouldn't be long, but they should be short and simple. Make it unique so that no one else on the site has it. The second way is to just have one complete name that you use the whole time. This is the type of name mine is. Undefeated Begins With...and then a number depending on my avatar.

The avatar can be very important to your profile here on FN. People on the site will use it to recognize who it is just by the picture. It is essential not to switch avatars frequently. Your profile picture should be the same for a while so that people get used to your appearance. My avatar will always correspond to my name. For instance, if my picture is of Jay Cutler(which it is), I choose Undefeated Begins With 6.

After a while, those who read your blogs or TDs will begin to attribute the picture to you and you will become familiar. This is just human nature.

Though a username can sometimes be overrated, it can be an essential tool for getting your perspective heard and for making friends on the site.

Now for the bad. Never, ever, use an athlete's name as your username. If your username is Peyton Manning, it can be confusing for the readers. If you have to use your favorite player, at least add fan at the end(Manningfan, etc.) On this site, you must be your own person, so don't use famous names in YOUR username.

I say all this to make a point. A username is the key to a person's success here. So, for the newbies: Choose wisely because there are many great names, and being your own person will help everyone to recognize you while reading every comment you make. Thanks for reading.

Good blog. I agree.....part of your username should be short enough for people to use in comments when talking to you or about you....

for example, in this comment section if I say Ben, Tracy or Cass everyone knows who that comment would be directed at/about.

One thing to add - Don't steal someone else name!

Here's an example of a fake bigdleech (the record shows it), this guy even stole his avatar - he just changed the last part of the name - the real bigdleech has back in the finals at the end of his name, this one has finals bound

One more thing- sex sells. Avatars that people want to drool over may or may not increase your vote total. "Sexy" avatars (like mine) are coveted by a lot of users.

I'm just a Jay-Z fan. Too much of one really, but J. HOVA, Mr. Shawn Carter himself is just one of my idols.
