Hey, this is my first blog for Pre's People, which is a group for people that run. Competitively, for fun, for times, it doesn't matter. If you run, check it out.
This is going to be a short blog, but here we go. Last week my cross team started some non-mandatory practices, just to get us going before we actually start near the end of the summer. Our coach told us about this website, www.mapmyrun.com.
mapmyrun.com is a site for runners. It's name is pretty self-explanatory. If you join, you can map out your runs using Google Earth (when you map, switch the view to sattelite or hybrid). What makes it even better is that the site calculates the distance of your run, bike, hike, or whatever you did. Then you can name your run, make it public or private, and save it in your profile and your training.
There's a thing called My Training. It gives you a calendar and symbols for when you ran. Put your mouse over the symbol and it tells you what you ran and how far. My Training also calculates how far you ran combined. So when you go to get new shoes at the end of cross season, you can say your shoes have a few hundred miles on them and you need a new pair.
Anyway, check out the site. If anything, you can see your house from space.
