Just like last time, today's edition is being posted early so I can get it out of the way for work. Last week's was pretty ambitious, as it featured some underground and not so well known artists. This time 'round, there are some big names, with one band I'm sure not too many have heard of to finish it off.
1. Silent Scream - Slayer

Not too bad of a live performance from 2006 during the Unholy Alliance Tour. This is probably one of their underappreciated songs. Love the riffs and solos, but especially (and as always) the double-bass drum play. That's always been one of the greater things I've loved about listening to these guys -- the drums.
2. Mr. Crowley - Ozzy Osbourne

This is the song that makes Priests and Churches everywhere accuse the Ozz-man of being a Satanist. Or maybe it's "War Pigs", or him biting off the head of birds and bats. Nonetheless, sweet song.
3. In the Dark - Billy Squier

Ah, nice hard rock. Sweet riffs opening it up and a smooth rhythm from the drums carries it. The first time I heard anything from Squier was in the movie "Billy Madison" when Sandler hops out of his Firebird jamming to "Stroke" and sporting a REO Speedwagon shirt.
4. Anti-Social - Anthrax

Every time I go to an Anthrax video there's always a discussion or argument about the best thrash bands. Naturally, mud is slung like "St. Anger sucked!" and "Slayer rules all!!!", but there's always a guy in the middle playing piece maker and stating they should just watch and behold the greatness of Anthrax. Fun stuff, reading what boneheads across the world will bicker about.
5. A Fine Day to Die - Bathory

Never heard of these guys? Nah, me either. Supposedly some fine Black Metal here, a band that started back in 1983 in Stockholm, Sweden. This is off their 1988 album Blood Fire Death. No vid, just the song with the cover of the album featured.
That's all, folks.

Awesome Randy Rhoads footage. For anyone learning or thinking of learning to play guitar - start there. Back when I used to play this song, I loved the chord progression at the end - its absolutely perfect for improvising over and I'd make my drummer and bassist repeat over and over as I wanked out. Great memories.
Crowley was actually a very accomplished mountaineer. being the first to attempt K2, and also attempted Kangchenjunga, which is quite remarkable for his day - nearly 50 years before Hillary and Norgay climbed Everest.
I'll check out the rest of em later - saw the Ozzy and had to watch right away though.

With the inclusion of Bathory, you're inching ever closer to my type of metal...
You should try Amon Amarth. I think you're ready. Check out their newest album "With Oden on Our Side." I like "Asator," "Under the Northern Star," and "Hermod's Ride to Hel (Lokes Treachery Part 1)."
