Stories that caught our Attention: 6-25-08

This past week has been full of stories that have been controversial or otherwise interesting. So, we begin with today another new day for the media and bloggers go wild over everything that they can find. I'm one of them as sad as that is but, nevertheless we now begin with Terry Bradshaw and him admitting that they used steroids then (and we thought now was a problem).

In a nutshell here is what Bradshaw had to say for himself....

And in other unrelated steroid news, Keyshawn Johnson is considering a comeback ... again. Miami could be in the running for him as the T&R page points out (though they might as well have put a different title for it because it is all about the Dolphins, Keyshawn gets a minor mention at the end).

Seriously Keyshawn, your approaching thirty-six years of age and you are a sports anaylist, take what you have many players have come back out of retirment before and nine times out of ten they weren't what they once were before they retired. Players retire for a reason and sometimes they just get these ideas they can go back, metally they can, physically most of the time they can't come back. It is the ways of retirement, I'm not saying he shouldn't come back but, if he can't perform as well as he once did I'd stay a sport anaylist.

Well, now the Michael Strahan is retired he can basically chime in about anything he wants now. He started off by mentioning that Plaxico Burress is underpaid. In the words of Michael, "Obviously, he is underpaid for what he does and brings to the team." "For him, in his defense, it is the right time to do that. But to be honest with you, in professional football, there is no loyalty."

Strahan does have a point about no loyalty in football because there really isn't I mean I could bring up a bunch of disputes where there is no loyalty but, I'd have to use this whole blog for them. While it may be right for Plaxico as Michael claims, Burress even though hauling the touchdown winning catch in the Super Bowl, isn't what you would call an elite reciever and after winning the Super Bowl I think it has somewhat gone to his head and now he is doing all of these ridcioulus things to get what he wants like a spoiled brat. Look, no offense but, players should just shut up and be happy with what they get because a lot of people in this whole entire world don't have as much or aren't as fortunate as football players are. So put on a happy face it and live with it.

The NBA is buzzing with the draft coming up too. The Knicks are looking for someone who can either lead the team or oust Stephon Marbury or both. And the Heat are looking for a player to help get this team back on track with the ineffective Dwayne Wade injured last season. And while every other team is worried about what to do, the Pistons might consider making a shot at Baron Davis. Now, this move does somewhat make sense but also perplexed me at the same time. Why go after a star point guard when you have Chauncy Billiups?

When healthy Billiups is a great player and even injured he was still able to do good for the team during this year's playoffs. Now the other side of that is understandable because is Chauncy is out for a long period of time the Pistons have a great PG to take his place but, of course getting Davis can come with many hinges. How many minutes will he get? Who will start? You have two great players and if you leave one sitting getting half and half minutes it will probably getting old after a while for them and things could get ugly. While it would be nice it isn't exactly ideal.

Oh and finally I'll leave you with a blast from the past ... Throwback Uni's. Oh and just because I'm nice I have thrown in some more extra's ... You might want to check out the possibly most amzing commerical ever. Oh and this will get you laughing, President Bush sucks at basketball oh and apperantly was a male cheerleader on high school. And finally a soccor player had apperantly heard enough from the refs from all the sports and decided to bite a ref.

Thanks for reading and check back Saturday for the next edition.
