It sucks being a wolves fan with McHale around. I was so excited about Mayo, only to watch him screw up yet another drafft for us.

Pacers made some great trades yesterday. We finally got the perimeter shooter that we needed in Rush and a servicable big man that can put up numbers. Plus, Jack and Ford are an upgrade over Tinsley and Deiner anyday.

Remember these words. The Spurs will be sorry passing on CDR. Maybe the Nets will do him like they did Stephen Jackson and we get a shot at him later down the road. But this kid would have made a wonderful Spur. Damm.

I agree that the Pacers did very well with the trades they made prior and during the draft. Not only did they help themselves for the now but also for the future all in a matter of just a few days. Great job by mangement in Indiana! That being said, as a Bulls fan i'm very excited Paxon got this one right by taking Rose #1. I like Beasley who will probably be ROY but in the long I feel Rose is just what this young Bulls team needs to lead us back into contention again. Great pick by the Bulls! Now lets clear out some of that back court and get us some front court help this summer.

tgb, I understand Rose is a hometown kid, but do you really think Rose was a better pick than Beasley? As a Kansas City resident I got to see pretty much all of Beasley's games and the kid honestly makes Durant look like a chump. Barring injury I'd almost guarantee ten all-star appearances and a chance at a couple of league MVPs.
I honestly don't see that out of Rose. I see him being a top five point guard in the NBA and maybe three or four all-star appearances. With a good dose of luck he could end up like a Chauncy Billups which is nowhere near where Beasley will end up.
Taking that and the absolute glut of guards that Chicago has the smart move would have been to keep their very servicable guards and go for the frontcourt help last night.

johnnyb, I understand Beasley will have more of an immediate impact right off the bat. He's a flat out scorer who can also rebound, but I don't think he has the ability to lead a team like Rose can or will be able to given a little time to develope. Rose can and will make guys like T.Thomas and J.Noah live up to their true potential. Even guys like Deng, Gordon, Gooden, Hughs (depending on who they keep this year) will benifit from Rose's ability to spoon feed them open looks. He's makes the whole TEAM better. His #'s were modest in college, but he really started to come on when it counted most (missed freethrow at the end of the game against Kansas aside). I believe he averaged something like 20ppg, 6ast, 6 boards in the tournament. It won't happen overnight but you put this kid in the mix with some solid NBA pro's and watch those #'s go up! I'm starting to sound like to much of a homer but i really do believe, to quote John Paxon " Rose is the better fit for this franchise". And no disrespect to Billups but I think Rose will be better than him when all is said and done.

people ought to stop comparing the statistical figures between rose and beasley, because they will reach contribute to their teams in their own unique way. beasley is more of a scorer, but how many of those do we already see in the nba? rose's job on the bulls will not be the primary scorer, but instead be the primary ball handler, set the offense and dictate the tempo. he has an entirely different role. rose fits better on the bulls than beasley, because the last thing the bulls need is another scorer. there's only one ball to go around and how many shots will rose get after gordon and deng shoot their fill? rose is a better fit because of his ability to play an uptempo style or in an half court set in his ball handling abilities and physical size and skills.

beasley fits in the heat by being able to take the scoring burden off wade and marion. if beasley puts up numbers that resemble his numbers at kansas state, the heat will be a team thats hard to defend. with beasley as a low post or mid range perimeter threat, wade's suicidal drives to the basket, and marion's all-around game, drawing up an effective game plan against them will be difficult.

point guards are measured by their leadership qualities and their ability to control the flow of the game by methods other than scoring. point guards who score too much are called combo guards, not true point guards in the jason kidd sense.
