As a New Jersey Nets fan, I have to deal with mediocrity on a yearly basis, with the exception pf the 2002 and 2003 seasons when the Nets made it to the Finals. However, on draft day, I made a prediction, bold as it may have been, that Brook Lopez would be a Net.
Why did I make this prediction? Because I, and 9 other teams, all felt that there were 9 better players to choose from in the draft. And indeed it happened. But I am not here to brag about my prediction being right. It was just good insight on my part. Rather this is about the fact that the Nets not only stole Brook at number 10, but they got a legitimate scorer in Ryan Anderson at 21, and Chris Douglas-Roberts at 40.
These additions vastly change the scope of the team and gives us fans a reson to hope. We have a big interior now with Boonie and Lopez and Sean Williams. We have consistency at the guard psoition in Harris and CDR. Plus Ryan Anderson is going to more than likely be Jefferson's replacement, and the kid can score. He was top in the Pac-10 in scoring at 21.1 PPG, even mroe than Brook Lopez (19.3 PPG). The Nets finally have some life in them.
The defensive side of the ball needs to improve a bit as Lopez and Anderson are not really known for their defense, but CDR is a beast defensively. But Lawrence Frank is a defensive coach and a people's coach, and he will find a way to mesh this team together.
Plus with the recent acquisition of Yi Jianlian, the Nets might have the 3rd best frontocurt in the East, with Orlando and Boston obviously being better.
Where do the Nets shake out? All their draft day acquisitions, via trade or draft, give them an A+. And should be good enough for 5th or 6th seed in the porous East, of not now, then in just a few short years. There is hope, Nets fans. Brook Lopez is the chosen one. He can help us beat the Evil Empire knwon as the Boston Celtics.

Report Offensive CommentThey traded Richard Jefferson for Yi Jianlian and the horrible contract of Bobby Simmons and they still get an A+?
Yikes.

Report Offensive CommentThe Ram... Bobby Simmons is an expiring contract after 2010 freeing up cap space to go after Bosh, Wade or Lebron. The Nets weren't winning with RJ anyway so why not rebuild and get a 20 year old guy taken 6th overall last year.
A+++ job by the Nets
