 Elite Throwdown Tournament Anchor Booth

OVERALL RECORD AFTER FIRST ROUND:

  1. NCshvDavid -- 12-4
  2. Bigalke -- 10-6
  3. Studio Guest -- 8-8

A Host Named NCshvDavid: ok people this time my cohorts and I are looking at the losers bracket- the issue here is simple: Win or GO home- Considering the Talent here- one of these people could make some MAJOR noise and would not shock me if someone here won the whole thing!

Bigalke: This round will see everyone at their best. There is something about the finality of an elimination contest that brings the best out... so let’s get started on analyzing this bracket of the Elite Throwdown Tournament, the win-or-go crowd...

#32 BucMaster: One-X v. #16 nickb23

AHNN: This matchup I like- Buc went down to the top overall seed- But it wasn;t the 50-1 blowout some expected- Nick came VERY close to winning the TD- lost by one- but Nick is the Higher seed- and I would expect a NFL topic here.

Bigalke: You’re right... these two will probably go football, though I could easily see them go baseball as well given the time of the year. Either way, Buc showed real poise in hanging in there with DetroitFan. I actually had him winning on one of his three choices of players in their head-to-head debates... and you saw Nick in the first round. He looked far better than I gave him credit in last week’s show...

AHNN: I told you Nick was a tough out- His cousin might have the gaudy record- but Nick might be the harder out.

Bigalke: This one is tough, but I think that Nick simply has more experience and will ultimately prevail. Bucmaster proved his merit in how he hung with D-Fan last round, and I think this one will be close. But with Nick being able to direct this wherever he chooses, I think that might be the ultimate difference in this contest...

D-Fan: Buc - A whiney kid that thinks his boyish charm gets him somewhere in life. However, he went to a fortune teller and he paid $5 just to hear that he would be living in his mother's basement. (What a rip)
Nickb23 - Look at what we have here, another guy with another number... These get annoying. No, you will never have that many people like you, Nick so toss the number out of your name.

FINAL PICKS:
AHNN: Nick
Bigalke: nickb23
D-Fan: Nick is going to kick your **** Buc...

#9 Duquesne - 7 to Go! v. #8 Foosball

AHNN: A Matchup of upsets here- Kind of odd to see a top 10 seed go home after round 2- But neither of these two have anything to prove- they are both VERY solid

Bigalke: I had the pleasure of facing Duquesne for the first time ever last round. It took every ounce I had to think past his argumentation to take the victory... and he is one formidable opponent, I can vouch for that!

AHNN: I’m rooting for Foosball here- I have a worse record vs Cap than on anyone else in Fannation- so if Foosball can knock him out- my odds go WAY up on this thing!

Bigalke: I see why you might root against Duquesne in this one, David. However, Foosball is no slouch either... but I can’t go against the guy who pushed me as hard as possible...

D-Fan: Duq - Think's he's a hot shot for going to law school. I hope they taught him how to handle a loss because he has the flaring temper of Kirk Gibson when he strikes out...
Foosball - Foosball? Is this football, or should someone tell him that this is 2008, where FOOTBALL rules, and Foosball drools, and yes I mean YOU Foosball, not the sport.

FINAL PICKS:
AHNN: Cappy!
Bigalke: Duquesne
D-Fan: Duquesne, he needs the vengence

#21 rstowe - Dark Lord of NMI  v. #28 gonets

AHNN: There is a WORLD of experience separating these two players- Centuries even. But Gonets might pull a shocker here and send the old (and I mean OLD) Vet home- (and I mean retirement home)

Bigalke: Come on, David... it isn’t like Stowe is the Methuselah to your own infancy... seriously, though, gonets is in my estimation going to have an uphill battle with this topic. Stowe went up against Coach, one of your favorites, David... will he go baseball again now that he is the higher seed?

AHNN: gonets only chance maybe to hope Stowe picks a topic and subject that is poat 19th century- hopefully something he didn’t witness firsthand – Then and only then does Nuts stand a chance.

Bigalke: I think in the end that Stowe will shake off the defeat last round to push ahead in the tournament... he rarely loses consecutive contests, and was on better form heading into the tournament...

D-Fan: Rstowe - The oldest guy ever, he was the TRUE inventor of baseball. Even ask him, his Stick and Rock combination KILLED people, too bad his arguments were the opposite.
Gonets - Probably the worst person on this site, you say "what's up", he gives you the finger, you offer him a drink he will slap you, you TD him, you will THRASH him...

FINAL PICKS:
AHNN: The Old man under the mountain
Bigalke: rstowe
D-Fan: Gonets over the old coot.

#20 dyhard: Joe Crede!!!!  v. #29 The Savage

AHNN: The Savage failed to pull off the upset last round- and a lot of people had dyhard as a dark horse- and the Savage is looking to climb back into contention.

Bigalke: Both The Savage and dyhard came into this tournament appearing seeded far lower than might be warranted based on recent performance. However, last round came back to bite both of them with the risk of elimination. The Savage has been on a tear lately, but dyhard has the greater sustained success and has a better record of growth as a throwdowner. I’m going to say that experience wins this contest... I was one who considered dyhard a dark horse, and I can’t bet against that inclination...

AHNN:  Gotta love Savage here- swearing revenge and all- Goes from Ghost to dyhard- who I KNOW does not want to go home early- Savage has done what early TDers should be doing- getting slapped around  by the vets- but it teaches you how to argue if you pay attention- Savage might take one of those lessons and start doing the slapping.

D-Fan: Dyhard - A whiney kid who thinks he is cool, but in the end we can probably see what his username REALLY means... die hard in this tourney so early?
The Savage - It's just a complete loss with him, I've got nothing...

FINAL PICKS:
AHNN: Dyhard
Bigalke: dyhard
D-Fan: Dyhard

#30 Super Squirrel v. #19 Gu3- I <3 Freddie Bynum

AHNN: These two should have a WAR- two vets and VERY good TDs- and I don’t think either one wants to go home in round 2

Bigalke: These two have a history against one another... after six throwdowns against each other, their lifetime series stands at 3-3-0... consider this a game seven, if you will. Gu3 has nearly four times as many completed throwdowns as Super Squirrel; however, these two are EVENLY matched... how are you leaning, David?

AHNN: Squirrel is 1-1-2 vs me- and I’ll be STUNNED if he goes home this early – I’m not saying Gu3 is a pushover- other than to Hemo who seems to have his number, but either person is going to put up a HUGE fight to stay in this tourney.

Bigalke: Personally, I don’t quite know why, but I am leaning toward Squirrel. He’s won the three most recent throwdowns between these two after losing his first three against Gu3... he seems to have discovered the magic formula to defeat this particular foe...

D-Fan: SS - Thought squirrel in german could ruin us, but in the end he shall see that tournies do that to him... He stinks.
Gu3 - I've got nothing to top what Ghost said, that one was priceless...

FINAL PICKS:
AHNN: Super Squirrel
Bigalke: Super Squirrel
D-Fan: Gu3

#11 DjRoxalot v. # 27 Lifer

AHNN: With the Guru having to pull out- We had Djroxalot agree to step in! Unfortunatly, he missed round one- so he is looking to make a start here- Lifer on the other hand knows that if he loses again- he’s going home- he lost the play-in game vs Leech- but with his stature and my stupidity- He’s still got a shot!

Bigalke: It was indeed amazing that LIFER should come into this tournament as such a low seed. However, he technically is ALREADY sitting on two losses in this tournament, to Porkins in the first round and to Bigdleech in the opening-round seeding throwdown. DjRoxalot is one of those competitors who simply goes headlong into what he is doing, and is a worthwhile addition to this tournament...

AHNN: Well keep in mind Lifer was an addition as well- so his seed is not really reflective of his place here- But still Dj is not an easy win either- and yet another person that should have got a legit seed in this tourney- but Dj is very up and down- He’s beat me easily in TDs and I’ve beat him like a drum – but he’s risen up and beat me on topics he shouldn’t have and plain won on arguments. Lifer is too experienced to take DJ lightly, but depending on witch DJ shows up. . .

Bigalke: One thing I must ask though is this: Why is this tournament seeing people drop like flies? Do people fear their equals that much? Or is this simply summer diverting people from the site? I’d hate to see more go...

AHNN: You’re not going to like what’s coming up then

Bigalke: Oh, goodness... what’s next? I mean, besides D-Fan?

AHNN: You’ll see

D-Fan: Djroxalot - What does he necessarily rock a lot at, throwdowns or advertisements?
LIFER - He claims that he stinks at tournies, but he should be thinking the same way about the Bills over these past few years... Yes, I am aware the same can be said about the Lions, but doing it to other people is funny too.

FINAL PICKS:
AHNN: Lifer
Bigalke: djroxalot, if for no other reason than he is coming into the tournament with less pressure...
D-Fan: Lifer

#23 Cheezhead v. #26 Ram

AHNN: And here we have another Sub! Cheeze jumped at the chance to come in this thing- and with Nolan vanishing- and Ram making Bail finally- he JUMPED at the chance to join the tourney- Cheese has the higher seed- but I think Ram just don’t care- the hinderance of coming from this half of the bracket might just spur him on a little bit more.

Bigalke: Whoa... wait... what?! I think that Ram could easily come into this tournament, even giving the one-loss handicap, and STILL run the table in this thing. Cheezhead had a tough throwdown the first round... but this one tops ANYTHING he would’ve gotten from Nolan. While I am sad to see him leave, this tournament felt incomplete without Ram’s presence... so welcome.

AHNN: And just to let you know- this is the LAST substitute in this tourney- any other dropouts just cause a Bye- sorry- even if Adam Lee asks to come in – its not fair to the rest of us.

Bigalke: I’m glad to hear that... we’re starting to come up on eliminations and after that point there should be a moratorium on reentry... thank goodness! I don’t need another coronary such as this surprise entrant caused!!! Even with a little bit of rust, Ram is as scary as ever...

D-Fan: Cheezhead - He gets mad when you use proper grammar in his name,
Ram - He thinks his own jokes are funny. Too bad he can't make it out of a bar with people like himself to tell the jokes to just like his throwdown arguments, what is he trying to pull?

FINAL PICKS:
AHNN: Ram
Bigalke: Ram
D-Fan: Ram because it's like a goat...

#15 Goodell: Pass the bong  v.  #31 Dudeman

AHNN: Roger is waiting with baited breath on the Wallace/Dudeman matchup- and yes the Whole TOURNEY is waiting on it- either way I’m taking Roger again.

Bigalke: That’s a daring pick, David... I’m going to counsel patience until we have the matchup. Wait... there it is... Dudeman takes the loss and away we go... do you think Dudeman has ANY chance here, David?

AHNN: Well Roger has a HUGE exp advantage – but dude is better than his record entails and he wants to improve- Roger and I have the same problem- we both drop TDs we shouldn’t and sometimes don’t bring our A game at all times – there is a VERY good chance that if Roger don’t bring it- he may be going home.

Bigalke: Dudeman v. Goodell... honestly I think that Dudeman showed great potential in the first round, acquitting himself well against a deceptively-sharp Wallace. However, Goodell simply has too much experience in this arena to bet against him. You know what, David... you are RIGHT... *grits teeth*

I hate to say it, but I find myself veering sharply toward Goodell before we even see the topic selection...

D-Fan: Goodell - He thinks the Bills are good... that's all I have to say, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Dudeman - Is he a dude yet? I don't think he is a dude yet. He should just take out the "eman" and that is what he will be in this tourney...

FINAL PICKS:
AHNN: Goodell
Bigalke: Goodell
D-Fan: Dudeman for no reason

Bigalke: That just about wraps up the second half of our Elite Throwdown Prediction Show for the second round of the tournament. Stay tuned in the coming days for your third-round predictions... for David and DetroitFan here in the Ocho Studios, this is Bigalke reminding you to stay classy, FanNation...
