Today I'm starting a blog series that will cover soccer everyday. Look at it like it is an online version of Sportscenter but for soccer. Today, I'm going to be looking at rumors and one game. So, let's get started.
The Big Rumor- Podolski to Cologne? Yeah that's right. Lukas could be heading back to his former club after two seasons at Bayern. The Bayern striker found himself out of favor this past season and after a very good Euro 2008 he was being approached by clubs such as Tottenham, Manchester City, and Juventus. Personally, I feel that this is a great move and I really think that it will help everyone. Cologne stays up in the league with him, Bayern get rid of one player that they will have trouble getting on the field, and Podolski goes back to home to play. On another note, Bayern may replace him with Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez.

A Rumor that Interests Me- When is Gareth Barry going to sign with Liverpool? The last day of the season during Liverpool's last match I was sitting there saying, "When is he going to sign?" He's been linked forever and I really hope that this comes through. Liverpool alledgely made their 'final' bid today. It was said to have been a 15 million euro bid. Barry and captain Steven Gerrard are teammates on the English National Team and they are very good with one another. So, I expect to see him at Anfield very soon.

Match of the Day
Today's biggest match has to be the Copa Libertadores Final Second Leg. The first leg between LDU Quito and Fluminense went to Quito by a score of 4-2. Quito can lose 2-0, or 3-1 and still win the Copa Libertadores after that huge win at home. Keep in mind that the winner of this match will join Manchester United and Pachuca at the FIFA Club World Cup in December. Quito has easily been the surprise of this year's tourney. The Ecuadorian side has already knocked out teams like Estudiantes and San Lorenzo of Argentina and Mexican side Club America. After upsetting all these teams, the Ecuadorians will look to make history and seal the deal against the Brazilians. To win, Quito will look to use star striker Joffre Guerron. He signed a deal with Getafe that will be effective after today's match.
Yesterday's Big Result
Yesterday, the Canadian Champions League continued with the Vancouver Whitecaps of the USL traveling to Toronto FC. The match was a must-win for the Whitecaps and it showed with the Whitecaps coming out and attacking early. The Whitecaps attempts to score finally came to fruition when Martin Nash beat fellow Canadian Greg Sutton on a PK in the 36th minute.
Whitecap goalkeeper Jay Nolly played phenomenally in the match. One time he wasn't even within the frame of the camera and he shot across and saved a Jeff Cunningham bomber. Sutton came up with a bunch of huge saves but it didn't matter because Vancouver came up with the huge upset. This was the first loss for Toronto at home this season.
The winner of the Canadian Champions League receives a berth into the opening stages of the first-ever CONCACAF Champions League.

I want to thank wikipedia, ESPNsoccernet, and the Fox Soccer Report. They gave me the idea. Well, once again it's been Keeper and I'm out.

Report Offensive CommentI think it will and I hope that some other people can pick it up when I'm not available. When I'm not I will let all the authors know so we can get someone to do this.

Report Offensive CommentGood stuff, although it might be hard to find things to talk about during the dog days of summer. It can't be easy to track that many leagues either. Thanks for the hard work.
