No excuses for Eddie Murray, but as you can see from the first two games w/the new batting coach Bill Mueller, the Dodgers are not going to be a hitting machine no matter who is coach. The first two games under the helm of our new hitting coach we have scored two runs, and that includes being shutout last night. The Dodgers hitting issues are not about improving their fundamentals, as most of these guys are vets(Pierre, Furcal, Kent, Luis Gonzales, Garciaparra, etc.). These guys just need to live up to their potentials, as they have done in the past w/o Bill Mueller instructing them on how to hit. The Dodgers are a team built on pitching-bottom line. We are at the bottom of the league in slugging and HRs, and that will never change, so we just need to get these guys to give us 3+ runs a game and we will win most of those. Eddie Murray should not have been fired because the Dodgers vets are all hitting under their lifetime averages. Eddie Murray was a great hitter from both sides of the plate and he hasnt forgotten how to pass on that knowledge to his team, its just a matter of under-achievement and sluggish starts from guys that should be performing better w/o pats on the back or better approaches to hitting in the clutch or modifying their swings.
