We still have two more outlooks before we wrap up the series and so far we have been running good ... We will wrap up our final tenture with the offense with the lineman who needed a huge improvement this offseason and got it ...

Jacob Bender: Well, we can say for sure Bender although an 07' draftee has done little to catch out attention and is barely a name you hear at all. Even so he is a player who could potentially help our line in the near future. Before getting drafted last year Bender, attended DeMatha Catholic (MD), where he was team captain and earned all-state, all-conference and all-state academic honors as a senior in addition he did not allow one sack during his senior year. He also played in 42 games, in his four years at Nicholls State, earning All-America and all-conference honors.

Bender got his welcoming commitee Week 8 and 9 last season however he had done little. Look, I know Mangini must have a reason for everything however I can't figure this one out. Bender seems to have the skills he just hasn't shown us how well he can use them to benefit the team, I see a minimal role this season unless of course someone's game goes to hell or gets injured but, let's not forget there are twelve other lineman along with Jake ...

Stanley Daniels: To find out more about Stanley Daniels please go to his college profile ... Judging from his profile and trying to think like Mangini, I highly doubt we will see much of Daniels (preseason and big lead games or "hell we are losing just put whoever in" games).

Alan Faneca: A major offseason buy and a major hit to the wallet, the Jets look to Faneca to help guard the left side and probably be the anchor for this offensive line. Faneca has so many accomplishments you would be reading this portion of the blog into the early hours of tomorrow, so instead it is probably in the best interest of you and me to make it short, sweet and put all the major information out there.

You ready for all of this? Alright here I go ... Faneca was drafted in the 98' Draft by the Steelers. In 2000 he helped the Steelers rank fourth in the league in rushing, he has also helped RB's Jerome Bettis, Duce Staley, and Willie Parker set individual and team rushing records. He helped the Steelers reach Super Bowl XL which Pittsburgh defeated the Seattle Seahawks. And also helped Parker to a 75-yard touchdown run that is currently the longest run in Super Bowl history. And in 2007, Alan Faneca was voted to the Steelers 75th Anniversary All Time Team by Steeler fans.

Okay now here comes the good part about getting Faneca not only will he help Ferguson and Mangold make holes, he will also bring to the table five All Pro selections, two second team All Pro, a whopping seven Pro Bowls (for the last seven years of his career), and one Super Bowl Champion. Quite the resume I must say and if Faneca can continue his streaks into this season and beyond there are no doubts in my mind the Faneca will have amazing seasons here with New York.

D'Brickashaw "D'Brick" Ferguson: Ferguson who was taken fresh out of the 06' Draft has been another important player to the line. Before the NFL, Ferguson had many accomplishments two of which included, receiving the Thorpe Award as Nassau County's top player - first lineman to win the award since 1979 - and was Newsday all-state honoree after recording 55 tackles, six sacks and eight QB hurries as DE his senior year. In addition D'Brick, Earned All-America first-team selection by The NFL Draft Report and Associated Press and added second-team honors from Walter Camp Football Foundation and Sports Illustrated. Ferguson started in AFC Wild Card Playoff Game loss at NE and helped Chad Pennington throw for 300 yards and a touchdown he also helped Pennington to career-high 339 passing yards in Week 15 win at Minnesota.

Ferguson was also a major key into the Jets amassing so many rushing yards in 06' including Cedric Houston's only 100 yard performance in Week 13. Also showed his true colors when he started his first game in Week one against Tennessee where he helped Pennington go for 319 yards and two touchdowns. In 2007 he continued to do all this except for new players, he made holes for Thomas Jones against the #1 defense (Steelers) which lead to a win and was also responcibles for many of the rushing yards. I expect Ferguson to continue his streak into this season and beyond ... he has obviously been able to open the wholes for the run game and I see no signs of him slowing up.

Nate Garner: You can learn more about Garner by visiting his college profile ... According to the profile Garner "has combined his increased bulk and strength with his already solid fundamentals and footwork ..." Although we haven't seen any action from him in the big league yet, I expect Mangini to more than likely slowly faze him in unless of course he has other plans but, like Bender I'm not expecting a stellar season unless of course like I said there are other plans in mind.

Wayne Hunter: Not much is known about Hunter though he has jumped around a lot ever since being drafted by the Seahawks in the 03' Draft. Since then he has been waived and re-signed by Jacksonville multiple times. When they finally let go he found his way to the Jets practice squad and then was a promised a reserve/future contract in January by New York.

He did make his NFL debut back in 2004 but, has done nothing since to make his name known in the league. If anything I don't honestly expect Hunter to stick around long but, if the Jets do use him nothing more than mop up duty, if that.

Nick Mangold: Now here is a good quality player we had been looking for until we came aross Nick Mangold in the first round of the 06' Draft. We got this pick from a certain John Abrahma trade to refresh our memories ... Anyway, before entering the NFL Mangold was an Outland Trophy finalist as well as finalist for Rimington Trophy, presented to top center in the country, after not allowing a sack in his senior season. Mangold also was a three-year starter for Ohio State, serving as a co-captain his senior season.

When Nick entered the NFL he began his first task with an NFL debut, the very same game where he along Ferguson helped Pennington get that 319 yard day with 2 TD's. From then on Mangold has been nothing but gold (get it ManGOLD, yeah I know it is a bad joke but, I have to amuse myself somehow). He showed his greatest strength in Week 4 of last season against Buffalo when Pennington was sacked only once on 40 dropbacks he was also in the middle of Jets rushing attack that rang up season highs with 45 carries and 199 yards in Week 17 win vs. Kansas City. Mangold is without a doubt a great center that the Jets received and I expect him to continue his great playing this season and for years to come.

Matt McChesney: Another little known player is about to be a part of your vocab after you read this, McChesney finished career at Colorado with 123 tackles (87 solo) and team-leading 11 sacks. He was signed by the Rams in 05' as a FA rookie he then in that same year found his way to the Jets and has been here ever since on practice squad and on the roster. He was recently in the beginning of 07' allocated to NFL Europa ...

He made his NFL debut as a DL and has a tackle and created QB pressure he also saw more action on DL and tackled RB Shaud Williams for 2-yard loss in Week 17 vs. Buffalo. Since then nothing has been heard or done from him except his transition to an OL. Look, Matt hasn't done anything since 2005 and it doesn't look like he will be this season either. Even with decent college numbers I don't expect to see him around here anytime too soon and with the NFL Europa thing, I don't expect anything.

Will Montgomery: Will Montgomery is another player whose name is used little but, has been  around since 2006. He has appeared in the thirteen games as an LG/RG and in 06' (with the Panthers) Montgomery didn't allow one sack against New Orleans. He also paved the way for great rushing yards. He made his first debut as LG for New York in the win over Pittsburgh last year and had played in Week 15 and 16 as an LG as well.

Although he has had minor accomplishments I see a very limited role if any because with the addition of Alan Faneca the Jets are going to be focusing a lot on Alan so I wouldn't expect anything or anything great from Montegomery this season.

Brandon Moore: Moore is another player who has an very involvled profile so I won't go into too much detail here however Moore has been a very solid player on our offensive line since being signed by New York in 02' as a rookie free agent which eventually led to his true start of his career in 04'. Moore along with the rest of the active line players help Chad Pennington achieve many yards and touchdowns and is a big part of the line as a whole.

I expect Moore to keep up his work into this season and beyond that. With Faneca, Mangold, Ferguson and everyone else who is involved I expect the offensive line to be stronger than ever this year.

Clint Oldenburg: Oldenburg is another player who has seen his career on 'reserve.' Since his early days (High school, college) he has been mostly a reserve and only saw his first action in 07' as a RT against Tennessee in Week 15 with New York. Orginally taken by the Patriots in the 07' Draft, Oldenburg was signed and waived by the Patriots multiple times before being signed on the Jets practice squad and eventually the 53 man roster.

Look, even though he made an appearance last year he dind't do anything really and I don't expect to see him do much this year either.

Robert Turner: Turner was first signed by the Jets as a rookie FA then he was waived but later resigned to the Jets practice squad and eventually the 53 man roster. Tuner was another player who saw action at LG in Game 16 vs. Kansas as well as making his debut at LG against Tennessee.

Look, I really don't expect to see Turner much this year with the signing of Alan Fenca that shoudl decrese what little role Turner had this season. If the Jets keep Turner it would surprise me but, it also wouldn't shock me if they get rid of him during the 53 man roster cut.

Damien Woody: And finally we have the famous Damien Woody who has won two Super Bowls with the New England Cheatriots (I had to say it) and has two Pro Bowl's, one as a selection (2002) and the other as an alternate (2005). Woody is part of the 99' Draft Class with the number one pick being 'The Couch'. Woody has started 121-of-128 regular season games at three different positions along the offensive line, contributing at center, guard and tackle, which is good news for New York who plan to put him at a new position (so at least he has experimented with other positions).

Woody spent his 06' season on IR and since 05' hasn't got a Pro Bowl or Super Bowl after playing with the Lions from 2004-2007. With Woody having his ups and downs it is somewhat mind boggling however I expect Woody to perform well in New York and to help the team succeed this season and for the next five years he better be all he is worth.
