New York News: Favre to the Jets?, Waivers, Waived/Signed ..

I have decided to make one huge blog about some of the past stories throughout the week about New York and this one happens to start off with Brett Favre and the Jets ....

Brett Favre to the Jets?

It is a very interesting question indeed however the better question is, could this really happen? According to Mike Lombardi who spoke on Sirus NFL Radio recently stated that "the Jets would be a good spot, they don't have a quarterback" in relation to trying to acquire Brett Favre to play this fall. Now the Jets do have quarterbacks of course no one knows who will be the go to guy come the first game of the reguar season.

But as fans we have to wonder if Favre could be the future for us, if he is only going to play a few more years then we'd still be in a bind after he retired. Peter King wrote, "If the Jets do try to acquire Favre, maybe there is something to the "win now" talk of the beat writers, but until I see them making moves for Favre, I just don't think this would be a good move for the team." While it would bring Favre back to where he could have ended up in the beginning (Atlanta nabbed Favre and we ended up with Nagle; biggest blunder of them all), you can't help but, think about how this could effect the Jets future like King said sure it is a win now but what about later on ...

Jets Waive WR/KR Ashlan Davis, DB Kenny Patton and FB Justin Valentine

It figures this would happen, they get these players on the roster and then release them right away. It is rather interesting that they released Justin Valentine who is a decent fullback that I recently talked about in the FB Outlook, unfortunatly that extended future doesn't seem bright for him now (of course the Jets always sign players they released so don't be surprised if you see him again) ... As for the Davis and Patton their futures with the team didn't look so bright to begin with but again don't be surprised if you see them again.

Rookie Signings

Well, now you know why guys like Pete Kendall, Chris Baker and Coles get upset. The Jets have signed two of their draft picks but what boggles my mind the most is they have yet to sign Vernon Gholston, what the hell? If Gholston is going to help the team in the hell is going to without signing him? It is times like these where you can understand a Vets anger. Come to think of it Dustin Keller, Erik Ainge and Dwight Lowery their top picks have not been signed as well while the lower picks (Marcus Henry and Nate Garner) have been signed, what is everything done backwards here?

Caulcrick to Backup Richardson?

Jehuu Caulcrick, a Fullback/short yardage back who the Jets signed might be a player that the Jets look to use as a backup to FB, Tony Richardson. Beating out Justin Valentine who has a record of blocking for both Marion Barber III and Laurence Maroney is pretty impressive, but Caulcrick seems to be the more valuable player to the team as of now. AJ Schable formerly of the Eagles will still be a player Caulcrick needs to fight for a spot on this team but honestly I can't see Schable on the team throughout this season but, then again I said Valentine could see an extended future with the Jets ... If Favre returns, he will play for the PACKERS Green Bay would never release him outright and his trade value is diminimis

I know which is why this seems highly unlikely but, you know how writers are always looking for something to catch the reader's attention.

It's unlikely Favre would come but considering Favre was our target back in the 1992 Draft before the Falcons swooped in and took him one spot ahead of the Jets forcing the drafting of Browning Nagle (I still have nightmares of Nagle) maybe Favre coming now would be some sort of cosmic karma for the Jets fans.

It ain't gonna happen but a man can dream.

the lower picks were signed because they are th easiest to sign, there really isn't negotiating th players can do, it's take it or leave it

the higher picks will be in before training camp, only a few teams have signed their high picks so shut up
