Anyone who watches the Phillies knows one thing. Adam Eaton is terrible. In his short Phillies career, he has a 6.06 ERA and despite winning 10 games last year largely due to the offensive help he got, he had the highest qualifying ERA in baseball. They also have problems with Brett Myers, who has been the announced starter for July 23 against the arch rival and red hot Mets. I question that decision along with many others the Phillies front office makes. But there is one I agree with- Joe Blanton.
The Phillies got Blanton in a trade with the A's yesterday for three prospects. Two of them are in the top 4 rated Philies prospects. Now to get one guy who is no ace starter, that may scare alot of people away by giving up your future. But the truth is, the Phillies need to win now. They aren't worrying about 2010 like other teams may be. They have been in the NL pennant race for the past 3 or 4 years and have not even a single playoff win to shwo for it.
Truth is, the Phillies don't give a **** about the future, they want to win now. And getting Joe Balnton to replace most likely Adam Eaton is a move made to win now.
