Hey its me Ahung with another blog. Many people have the bad habit of judging players simply based on their scoring. People assume if a player puts up 25+ a night, he's a superstar. That is untrue. Obviously, there is more to the NBA than scoring, such as teamwork, rebounding, DEFENSE, but scoring is also very important. This is the reason I have made this blog, to judge a variety of scorer's a
nd the depth to their game. Here it goes.
1. Lebron James-He is more than a scorer. Lebron passes and rebounds alot every night he plays, as he averaged 7.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists this year.. He always gives it all even on defense, averaging 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks this year, bit still his defense is often criticised. So according to my Scorers Analysis, I grant Lebron James an A-. He would get an A if he had a more consistent jump shot. Sorry Lebron...
2. Kobe Bryant-One of the more unpopular sports players, Kobe Bryant still is one of the best shooting guard ever. He has an amazing ability to score and a great 3-point shot along with driving and getting to the foul line. To top that off, he is also a good rebounder for a shooting guard, averaging 6 rebounds per game this year, and a great dunker and this season proved he is an unselfish passer, averaging 6 assists per game. He plays amazing defense as well, thus earning him spots on the All-Defensive team for a large part of his career. So for this, his grade is an A. Good job Kobe!
3. Dwyane Wade-He has come of an injury plagued 2 years and is hoping to start afresh. Even with injuries though, he still got a good assist average and is a good defender, averaging 1.2 blocks in one season despite the fact he is a 6'4 guard and averaging 2.1 steals that same season(2006-07). In 2006-07 he was averaging 28.6 points per game before getting injured and also rebounds well for a 6'4 shooting guard, averaging a career high 5.7 rebounds per game during his championship year and grabbing 13 in one finals game. However, even though he has developed a good mid range shot, his 3-point shot is very poor and because of his injury plagued season, he is given a grade of B+. Good luck working yourself back to A grade playing, Wade!
4. Carmelo Anthony-I have to admit, I heavily dislike this player with an enormous amount of tattoos on his body and his behavior like a thug with no guts, like when he sucker punched that Knicks player and ran away from the 5'9 menace Nate Robinson. However, I cannot deny he is a good scorer(thus his reason for being on Scorers Analysis today) and a good rebounder as well. This year he averaged 26 points per game and 7 rebounds per game. He is also pretty reliable from behind the arc, shooting 36% for 3's, amd along with his amazing ability to get to the rim and knock down the mid range, he is almost impossible to stop. However, his recent DUI troubles, coupled with earlier acts, make him go a little down with my list. However, the only true fault I can find in his game is his HORRIBLE defense and his selfish play. Putting all this in mind, I give him a grade of B+. Fix your attitude Melo!
5. Amare Stoudemire-Stoudemire is a terrific scorer, granted. He averaged 25 points per game this season, alot for a power forward. That is the reason he is on this list. However, he is also an above average rebounder for his position, averaging 9+ this season, while considering the fact that he has always been playing with a superior rebounder so he is not required to rebound as much(Shawn Marion, Shaquille O'Neal). However, he is a very underrated defender, averaging 2.2 blocks per game this season and has averaged 1+ steals per game, a good feat considering his size. He is an awesome dunker and has also developed a good 15 foot jump shot. However, I find fault in the fact that he still does not rebound as much as he could, even considering the superior rebounders he has played with. So putting all this in mind, I give Amare Stoudemire an A-. Work on your rebounding Amare...
6. Allen Iverson-Considered by some a selfish player, and considered by others an over excessive shooter, Allen Iverson is rarely given the credit for his spectacular defense and scoring he provides by NBA critics. He has averaged 25+ points nearly every year of his career, peaking at 33 points per game. He has also proved his defensive strength by nearly always averaging 2+ steals per game, at one time averaging an amazing 2'7 steals, and a couple years ago, he silenced critics calling him selfish by leading his team with 7.9 assists per game. Despite his height of 6'1, he has the ability to finish strong with a dunk or with finesse with a layup. He rebounds decently for his height, and is a much better 3-point shooter than people give him credit for, and he keeps up the good work while still being in his 30's. For all this, I give Allen Iverson an A. Keep up the good work AI!
7. Dwight Howard-He officially became the Franchise Player for the Magic this year. He led the league in rebounds per game with an inhumane 14.5 rebounds per game. He also averaged 2.5 blocks per game and scored well, putting up 22 points per game. He has developed an offensive game going beyond dunks, showing his ability to perform short hook shots with either hand an is slowly working on his free throw shooting. All this has led to him shooting 60% this season and 60%+ last season. However, my only criticism for him is still his free throw shooting and his mid range shot(or lack thereof), along with his turnover prone play, as he led the league in turnovers in 2006-07. So for all this, I give Dwight Howard an A-. Sorry Dwight, you have to work on your mid-range game and turnovers.
8. Tracy Mcgrady-He is a great scorer, we all know that, at one time averaging 32 points per game. He passes and he rebounds well also, averaging 5.5 rebounds and 6 assists this year. However, he has suffered injury problems for much of his career and has often been criticized of not giving enough effort. He also plays very poor defense and this year has also regressed a bit in his scoring as well, averaging 22 points, a near career low. So for all this, I give Mcgrady a B. Step it up T-Mac!
Here is the grading sheet for all the players.
Kobe Bryant A
Allen Iverson A
Lebron James A-
Amare Stoudemire A-
Dwight Howard A-
Carmelo Anthony-B+
Dwyane Wade-B+
Tracy Mcgrady B

it would have been nice if you through in more stats to back up your argumnets, for example you say t-mac is a good rebounder and passer but you didn't include his assist or rebounding numbers. also you have pretty much agreed with everyone else that the super stars of the leauge are indeed good players, you just put thier rebounding, blocks, and steals stats in there for some players but not others.

I like the idea, but what do rebounding and defense have to do with scoring analysis. Also, how does a DUI effect one's ability to score. Still nice work though.

No he's reliable from beyond the arc but he doesn't always take the shot only at times that's why its so hard to guard his threes...their all full of tattoos but I pointed out Melo cause he's sort of a bad role model and I needed to emphasize you knoww aht I mean?

Tattoos have nothing to do with whether a person is good or bad. People of all races, especially in America are obsessed with tattoos. There are even a couple of television shows all about tattoos. I think that your judgenment is unfair because it insinuates that tattoos make a person a thug. Overall good analysis, but your biased opinion got in the way on that one. Besides, I think everyone on your list has at least one tat.

But it is also the amount that matters...and wade doesn't have one. Neither does Dwight I think...
