Any other divisions out there with three 40-win teams? Dont give me any cr@p about team potentials-lets talk about performance, and all other divisions fall by the wayside in this argument. AL West is good w/top 2 teams, but Seattle's pitching is going to leave them sub-.500 for the 162 schedule. The AL Central is top heavy, but Minnesota besides Santanna is pitching-starved and is no more than average. Lets say the Yankees continue to come alive, that leaves 2 great teams at top but Toronto in third is pathetically average. If you know National League baseball like I do, everybody in the central ****$ except Milwaukee, and even they are over-achieving.
Okay, so lets talk NL East. Does anyone think the Philly pitching staff is going to keep them a snorkel away from drowning all year with that starting staff. Once again, a two team top-heavey division.
The 3rd place team in NL west has 42 wins as of this moment(D-backs won today). The only teams with that many wins in all of baseball are the RSox and Angels. Argument made.

Agreed. The NL West has some exciting teams that nobody seems to know about. The Dodgers have very quietly built around supposed castoffs like Lowe, Penny and Nomar and have a great group of young players to trade or fill in with. The Padres have the best pitching in baseball, hands down, and I would love to see them make a run at the World Series this year. The D'backs also have a great group of young players (anybody catch the doc "The Show" on Mojo? A must for baseball fans). The Rockies also have a good crop of young players, and would be scary if the pieces ever fit at the same time. Only team that isn't worth the attention is the one that gets the most because of Bonds.

Although I can see where you're coming from, you fail to realize where the Wild Cards have come out in the past 5 years. Sure, NL West got it last year but the NL central has been a battle ground between the Cardinals and Astros for a while now. Granted they both suck this year. I also can't see the NL West holding a candle to the powerhouse AL Central. Its a 4 teams battle excluding the perennial loser the KC Royals. Pitching starved? How about Gil Meche, Mark Buehrle, Justin Verlander, Jeremy Bonderman, Kenny Rogers, CC Sabathia, just to name a few in that division.

i agree in my book the Dodgers, Padres, and D Backs edge out the Mets, Braves, and Phillies of the NL East. AL Central is pretty d@mn close too. Plus the Padres have the best pitcher in the game right now in Chris Young.
