Maybe old news to some of you but Arthur Rhodes has been traded from the Seattle Mariners to the Florida Marlins in exchange for prospect Gaby Hernandez, a fellow pitcher.
Rhodes has an ERA below 3.00 this year and has striken out more batters than innings pitched. The Mariners knew that they weren't in contention anymore and there is a chance that Rhodes may retire next off-season anyway. Mean as well get the prospect now instead of getting rid of him for nothing later this season.
Hernandez isn't that good though. He has a 6.47 ERA in Double A and Triple A baseball this year and has a 5-8 record. Rhodes is old and has a chance of injury and wouldn't be on the Mariners after this year anyway so the Marlins were smart to get him for minimal in return.

Remember those rumors with Manny Ramirez going to the Florida Marlins? They are completely dead and it's unlikely that Manny will get traded.
"Nobody has called me from Boston, and neither has my agent [Scott Boras]," Ramírez said. "The only thing I know of a possible trade is what I've seen in ESPN."
It looks like he's staying in Boston, I guess Florida has lost interest in him, but Manny no-longer has any fans in Boston, New York fans probably have a passion for him now.
Wednesday night, as trade rumors swirled, Ramirez told ESPNdeportes.com: "The Red Sox don't deserve a player like me. During my years here, I've seen how they [the Red Sox] have mistreated other great players when they didn't want them to try to turn the fans against them.
"The Red Sox did the same with guys like Nomar Garciaparra and Pedro Martinez, and now they do the same with me. Their goal is to paint me as the bad guy," Ramirez added. "I love Boston fans, but the Red Sox don't deserve me. I'm not talking about money. Mental peace has no price, and I don't have peace here."
