Seems like the NBA has gone international: Yao Ming just carried the Chinese torch in the first leg of the torch-carrying. He jogged with it for a few moments, but then slowed to a walk, maybe because of safety precations, maybe because he wants to save his legs. Who knows?
Also, it was announced this morning that Dirk Nowitzki will be the flag-bearer for Germany. Choke-witzki is the first basketball player to ever bear Germany's flag. About the opportunity, he said, "On Friday [at the opening ceremony], I will experience something astonishing. I never thought I would be chosen to carry the flag but maybe it's happened because a lot of athletes identify with me."
