A Dodger with dreadlocks? Welcome to the new MLB.

Dont forget who is the owner of the Dodgers. Frank McCourt, who unsuccessfully tried to buy his hometown Redsox in 2004, and who had to settle for the L.A. Dodgers. Well look who he just stole from the team he couldnt buy: Manny Ramirez, the most polarizing figure in MLB now that Barry Bonds is no longer part of the party. Despite Man-Ram, he has also gotten Nomar Garciaparra and Derek Lowe away from those Sox as well.

And in another irony, the general manager of the Dodgers is the former GM of the rival Giants, Ned Colletti. Since he has arrived he has gotten former Giants Jeff Kent and Jason Schmidt, as well as pinch hitter Mark Sweeney. Nothing like stealing from the team you used to know best.

So should we replace the Hollywood sign over the left field bleachers in Dodger Stadium with replica of the Golden Gate Bridge? Should we raise the left field wall to 37 feet with green paint and a new name aka Green Monster?

Well a veteran of the Giants organization said this past weekend that there had never been a buzz as big since Barry Bonds was going for the HR record as when hated rival Dodgers brought in Manny Ramirez to Frisco this weekend for a three game set.

Well I digress from San Francisco to give you the take of Spanish broadcaster for the Dodgers Jaime Jarrin, who says: "It was like game 1 of the 1988 World Series when Manny Ramirez stepped up to bat for the first time at home for the Dodgers."

The single most amazing thing about this trade is how little the Dodgers gave up to get Manny: Class-A pitcher Bryan Morris, prospect Andy LaRoche, and ZERO salary for Manny as the Red Sox are paying that due to the fact EVERYONE in MLB knew Manny wanted out of Boston and thus refused to pick up his paycheck.

What teams on the cusp of great attendance and/or playoff positioning couldn't have made a better offer for Manny than the Dodgers did?

In his first 6 games with the Dodgers he got 13 hits, 4 HRs, 9 RBIs, and 7 runs. Is it just me or did the Dodgers steal this guy, kinda like Hollywood steals reality in the name of feature films?

First Garciaparra was a Cub when he signed with the Dodgers as a FA. Second SF can have Schmidt and Sweeney back, although I doubt they would take them. The Dodgers did steal Manny, but the Marlins could have had him, if they hadn't been a bit too greedy.

That was Ramirez they got? SHlT! Well now things are starting to make a lot more sense around here. I've been so caught up with the Olympics hype that I missed that damn trade all-together. I kept seeing these flashes on ESPN about the new Dodger in town but I thought they had ressurected one of those monsters from the 'Predator' movies. I couldn't figure out why Arnie would allow that to happen in California given their past encounters.

they absolutely got a steal but manny's attitude will soon show its ugly head. everyone wants to make a good impression when you first get somewhere new. as great as a hitter as i think he is, if you only show up to play when you want to then i wouldn't want you on my team. i think i speak for all yankee fans.....good riddance manny!!
