Word just came out that Mangini-us is leaning towards sitting Favre for the entire game on Thursday against Philadelphia. I personally think that there is no real reason to play Favre at all, especially in the aftermath of the season-ending injury to Osi Umenyiora (which Mangini was on hand for). Why risk injuring Favre in a meaningless game? The only upside to starting Favre is letting him get more real game experience with the starting offense, but how much does one series really help? In all likelihood they wont have any more than 5 or 6 plays, 3 of which will probably be running! So why risk starting him at all? Let him sit, and let him practice full time, just so he can get more in synch with his receivers and with Mangold. And besides, a quarterback like Favre should be able to pick up an offensive set well enough to run it with 3 weeks of practice and studying, right? I personally agree with Mangini's decision to not start Favre at all. The downsides are just so much more hurtful than the upsides are beneficial. And with the recent injuries to Osi and Oucho-Cinco, the decision should be all the more simple. Comment with your opinions

I agree, playing Favre would not be in the best intrest because like you mentioned the game is meaningless. Besides that will open up some more playing time for Erik Ainge who hasn't much time during this preseason as Brett Ratliff has taken a lot of that up.
