All over everyone is taking sides on whether Magglio Ordonez or Alex Rodriguez will take home the American League MVP for 2007. Which really is nothing more than a waste of time. Magglio Ordonez if he continues with his monster year will win- Why? No New York Baggage - just like Justin last year.
alittle history...
Alex Rodriguez is a New York Yankee. In 2003 he won the American League MVP.
In 2004 he led the way into the post season for the Yankees, he was the only Yankee who produced at the plate in the stunning series loss to the Red Sox. In 2005 the New York fan base and media labeled him as a incomplete player unable to produce in the clutch or post season. In 2006 despite posting some of the team's best numbers he was booed relentlessly and blamed for the total collapse of the Yankees once again in the post season.
In 2006 Derek Jeter posted a MVP season, he was denied the MVP for failing to support Alex. SI ran a full cover titled, " NOT MY CAPTAIN." due to Derek's complete lack of support for A-Rod.
In 2006 multiple sports columnists through out the United States, remarked on Jeter's very vocal support of Jason Giambi during his steroid scandal and Giambi's poor rebound to the start of his "detox" year and Jeter's lack of support for A-rod while adjusting to a new team. city and position.
In 2006 Jason Giambi is the main source of an article that further cements A-Rod's struggles as a complete player- labeling him as weak in clutch situations and unable to produce when the game is on the line in and out of the post season.
In 2007 A-Rod has a monster year. He joins the 500 club, slugs the Yankees into the post season and loses the MVP to Magglio Ordonez because it would take a miracle to convince every single vote needed that
A. Alex Rodriguez has become a complete player ( NY media will definitely not help with that one! )
B. That Alex is not taking any drugs Giambi is distributing in the clubhouse.
C. That the New York Fan base, Media and Derek Jeter believe that A-Rod is the Yankee MVP.
To sum it up Giambi cost Jeter the MVP in 2006 and he will cost Alex the MVP in 2007.
Between his statements last year about Alex and with the questions that now linger about what is being consumed in the Yankee clubhouse, Giambi has yet again failed another drug test here in the 2007 season.
Giambi is not only making Selig look even more incompentent when it comes to illegal drugs in baseball, he has a become a black eye on the Yankee Organization. And there is at least one voter who made it clear last year as long as Giambi is in that clubhouse no Yankee will get his vote.
It is much easier to reward Maggs a young, talented player then to reward Alex and the Yankee luggage he is burdened with for at least the rest of the 2007 season.

I think you are making Giambi to be more than he is. He didn't cost Jeter the MVP. Justin won it because he had a great season and was the anchor in that line-up. Don't look for excuses. A-Rod should win it this year. If he doesn't, that is not Giami's fault.
