Commissioner Stern,

Can we go back to a best of five series for the first round of the playoffs?  The NBA season ends in April and I just find it ridiculous that the playoff system in its present form takes 2 months before we finally know who the champion is.

Now I understand it's all about making money but you are **** the money and the life blood out of the fans.

The conference quarterfinals are a blip on the radar...a mere formality.  Nothing really unexpected happens.  So this year the Warriors have made it to the playoffs for the first time since 1994.  That is probably the only exciting thing about the first round.  A series like that really only needs to be played in 5 games.  Conserve some energy and momentum for the Conference Semifinals and Finals.

I could be out here on my own with this idea but I think the fans agree.

i love the game, and to me more the more hoops the better, but i tend to agree. it's not good when you start to get that feeling that the playoffs are dragging. it loses drama. i would even go so far as to say let's try best of three in the first round. make every game count, crank up the tension. and give that wildcard team a chance for a big upset by playing two brilliant games. then five games in the next round, and seven in the conference finals and championships. as long as we're going to experiment, let's get loose.

and if you need a team, may i humbly suggest the celtics? they have everything you could want... as long as you can overlook some flaws. seriously, though, they may have laid a stinker this year, but they have a lot to offer and promise to be exciting in the future (come on, you're young). plus, rooting for winners is overrated. gets boring. so why not go green.

i am actually loving the 7 game series in the first round, as a basketball fan, i prefer as much basketball as possible, this year, u are gonna have a major upset when golden state beats dallas, so the more exciting games the better.
