Every week throughout we'll post SEC Power Ratings, based on how the teams stand at that time. This is the first installment, feel free to give your input:
SEC Power Ratings
(Aug. 28)
1. LSU
Tigers have the talent, and a favorable schedule, that should carry them to the SEC title game and a chance at a BCS Championship.
2. Florida
The defending SEC and BCS Champs lost a lot of talent on defense, but the offense will be the best in the league.
3. Auburn
Another solid Auburn team but a tough SEC road schedule will be hard to overcome.
4. Tennessee
The Vols are back, but not quite ready to get by the Gators.
5. South Carolina
The Gamecocks will be a tough out on anyone's schedule. But the SEC East is loaded with quality teams.
6. Arkansas
Despite having the best running back in the country, the Razorbacks won't be able to duplicate last year's SEC West title run.
7. Georgia
The Bulldogs have too many holes to make it to Atlanta, but they've got enough talent to beat anyone in the league.
8. Kentucky
Could be the surprise team in the league this year, making a run at the SEC East, if things go their way. But they'll have to be consistent week-in and week-out or finish back in the pack.
9. Alabama
The Tide faithful think Saban is a miracle worker. Some miracles take longer than others.
10. Vanderbilt
A better-than-average Commodore team still struggles in a better-than-average SEC.
11. Ole Miss
Ed Orgeron will need some upsets and a possible bowl appearance to save his job.
12. Mississippi St.
Let the Sylvester Croom farewell tour begin.
