The Gators step up in competition this week against defending Sun Belt Champion Troy University. The Trojans' claim to fame last year was nearly upsetting Florida State in Tallahassee, and Florida obviously wants to keep Troy from that elusive signature win. Last week, the Trojans were beaten by Arkansas, 46-26.
The key factor in this game will be the performance of the young Florida defense, which only gave up three points against Western Kentucky, but will be tested by a potent Trojan offense. Troy had 20 first downs and 376 total yards against the Razorbacks.
If the Gators can shut down Troy like they did WKU, that may bode well for SEC competition down the road. Tennessee will clearly give the inexperienced defense all it can handle the following week.
Look for Florida's offense to continue to move the ball well and put up points on Saturday. The thinking here is that Troy won't be able to keep up.
Final Score Prediction: Florida 45, Troy 10.
