OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today announced their roster of 48 players and schedule for the 2007-08 training camp being held at Scotiabank Place and the Bell Sensplex from Thursday, Sept. 13, to Tuesday, Oct. 2. The 20-day training camp includes seven pre-season games in a span of 13 days. The regular-season opener is on Wednesday, Oct. 3, in Toronto against the Maple Leafs.
Players report for medicals and physical fitness testing at Scotiabank Place tomorrow and then move to on-ice sessions at the Bell Sensplex on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. On Friday, the players and coaches will take part in the 14th annual Bell/Ottawa Senators Charity Golf Classic at The Marshes Golf Club.
The Senators training camp includes five goaltenders, 15 defencemen, nine left-wingers, 10 centremen and nine right-wingers.
The list of camp invitees was built primarily around the Senators' draft. Twenty-six were selected by Ottawa in NHL entry drafts, four were obtained in trades, with the balance acquired as free agents signings and professional try-out agreements. Twenty-two players lined up for at least one game with the Senators during the 2006-07 season, while another three suited up with other NHL squads.
