Down 0-2 I think that it's safe to say what fans have been saying for the last three years they've been booted out of the first round

The Yankees are finished

Although several teams have come from an 0-2 deficit, this year's version of the Yankees seems to lack the firepower necessary to join them

Here's the scenario: The Indians finish the obvious sweep and the day after that? Well of course George will start to clean house bidding Clemens and Pettite adeu, letting A-Rod opt out of his contract to sign with the next team that will go broke paying him $300 million, allow Torre to walk away for more money somewhere else and finally making Brian Cashman the fall guy for helping him piece together the failed $200 million soap opera that is the New York Yankees.

The Yankees philosophy has always been if we don't win the World Series it's a lost season and then the rumors start to fly about who might be traded who might get fired and so on and so forth. Baseball is like high school and the Yankees are like the teenage girl who's just gotten interested in boys but has so much drama in her life that she doesn't know what to do and she starts to panic. That's exactly what the Yankees are doing once they haven't won a championship in a while after winning so many of them they start to get dramatized all in a means to get attention, must be the atmosphere.

2003 - The Boston Red Sox come back from an 0-2 deficit in the ALDS to defeat the Anaheim Angels in 5 games.

"No team has ever come back from an 0-2 deficit in divisional play and I don't think that anyone is expecting that now."

...in the National League.

Not so fast there, bud.

Down 0-2? Your own team serves as a fine example of overcoming adversity. ALCS playoffs, 2004. That's as fine a counter-example as you could ask for.

The Yankees Philosophy has not been championship or bust. That has been Steinbrenner's philosophy. If you didn't notice, the Yankees have been making a huge leap towards youth. When they were still severely hurting, the Yankees made no blockbuster trades, or even big trades. Steinbrenner has supposedly stepped back a bit from Yankee operations, and the results are showing.

Haha I liked the analogy to teenage girls. Classic. I've noticed something this year, though. It no longer seems like the New York Yankees are the 2:1 favorites to win the World Series this year, as it has every year since 1996. Perhaps it is that their long reign at the top of the AL East is over, or perhaps it is the similarly repeating pattern of playoff failure that has become a broken record since 2000. Either way, the feeling is still there.

Whoa...I thought you were talking about MY evil empire for a second...The Dark Lord was almost confused for a second...anyway your right, the Yankees are a terrible team of egotistical, money hungry fools. The sooner they are eliminated the better...and when i saw eliminated i mean murdered MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I sense a great disturbance in the Force. Thousands of humans are fleeing Yankee Stadium.
