Welcome to the introductory edition of my blog which will be entitled "You Know What Really Grinds My Gears?".  This blog will focus on issues that really grind my gears and will center mostly on professional football related topics (though all sports will be fair game).

In my 1st blog posting of YKWRGMG I will focus on 3 things that are really grinding my gears that will be emphasized in a nicely bulleted list below:

 -  Commercials, specifically Visa/Mastercard/Reggie Bush commercials.  Alright Visa/Mastercard (whichever one of you is doing this commercial).  We get it, our lives are being utterly ruined by the guy whose paying in cash instead of swiping or waving our card in front of the card reader.  But can you really stop with the New Orleans Saints commercial in particular.  I realize The Aints were last year's hotness but after 5 weeks and them being 0-4, you may want to consider going back to the mall food court ones.  As for you Reggie, please....Jared Fogle, are you serious?  Add to that recent health studies are finding those that eat at Subway will usually go w/ the chips & beverage combo which is more unhealthy than those that would go to McDonalds and just get a Big Mac.

On the subject of commercials, it seems like Peyton is in every 3rd or 4th one.  I don't have a problem with athletes making some money doing endorsements, but is anyone else getting sick of seeing Peyton?  I know I am.  I'm giving the Saints better odds of making the playoffs than Peyton turning down a commercial offer.  I know its truely bad though when he starts doing Depends or Erectile Dsyfunction commercials.

-  John Madden.  Aside from being Brett Favre's love child, he's seriously got to consider retirement.  I don't know about the rest of you, but on my HDTV, when the camera is on him, he looks like he's either: a) had an allergic reaction to the brats/turducken/philly cheese steak he had before going on camera or b) just did a line of coke from the top of the toilet in the Madden cruiser.  His eyes are so red.  It's called Visine John.  And thank you for pointing out the obvious that when the ball gets beyond the 1st down marker that the offense gets a new set of downs.  Not sure what I would do without you.

-  Wide Receivers.  Take any game during the two minute drill.  Aside from the over the middle passes, it really grinds my gears when they catch the ball on the sidelines and go for the extra yardage and get tackled inbounds instead of getting out.  Are there that many wide receivers out there that can't read the Jumbotron for the down, distance to 1st, time out status, and time left til half/end of game?  Are they all that stupid?  I know your 3 years of marketing/communication/African Studies/history classes were college level classes but that doesn't make you smart and judging by your stupid play at times, its a good thing you went to school for free.

And that is what really grinds my gears.

(Hope you enjoyed my 1st blog posting and I look forward to constructive criticism and pointers)

Another thing about Peyton to get you rockin even more..right after his Superbowl win he attended the Sweet 16 party of a girl he didnt even know for 100,000 bucks. There are even pictures floating around on the web. Like he doesnt make enough money as it is. *rolls eyes*

Good blog but saying you hate Madden is like saying you hate your grandfather. The guy is an institution just like Al MIchaels.Would you rather have them or the way overrated Jaws and Tony Cornholio ?

I'd have Jaws over Madden but Michaels over Cornheiser...no Tirico either. 3 squabling heads in the broadcast booth is 1 too many.

And to suggest that Madden is Favre's illegitimate son is outrageous! (Not that I didn't get your point).

I never said I hated Madden, I just said he needs to retire. For 5 weeks straight he's sported the zombie eyes and looks to be 1 Turducken away from the grave.

Well Tracy, he does have a family to feed and with inflation and the purchasing power of the dollar much lower than it has been in years, his yearly salary from the Colts of +$10 million just doesn't go the same distance it used to.

Jaws is just as bad as Kornheiser. At least he was last game. Dr. Z hit the nail on the head when he said "Remember when Jaws actually analyzed a game?" And what kind of crack in Kornhymen on anyway? The MNF crew really grinds my gears.

I'd rather listen to Madden and Michaels than the MNF crew. Any day.

I'm tired of Reggie and Jared and Peyton too...

The only thing worse than those receivers staying IN bounds when they shouldn't, is a 230 lbs. running back who runs OUT of bounds instead of taking on ONE tackler. Are you paying attention Cedric? :P
