It looks pretty much like the first victim of the off season Yankees' house cleaning will be Yankee skipper Joe Torre. The early post-season exits over the last few years has finally caught up with poor old Joe.Boss George Steinbrenner is fed up with his team coming up short in the second season,he feels now is the time to pull the trigger. This team obviously needs re-tooling,their veterans are past their peak and need to inject some youth, but at the same time, need to stay competitive. This will be a tough task for Torre's replacement...trying to deal with "The Boss",demanding media and fans, all the while trying to make the ball club respectable. What moves this team will make during the winter will determine whether they will be a contender or pretender...but one thing is certain, you won't see Torre in the Yankee dugout come next spring...unless Steinbrenner has a change of heart.

It will be Mission Impossible for whatever poor fool gets sucked into (and of course paid extremely well) to sink into the hellish abyss that is now the NY Yankees. This is all Steinbrenner's fault.

George will be doing Joe a favor if he got rid of him. The big dollars would have to be the only reason to put up with a boss that's constantly dogging you in the press, in front of your peers and in front of your players.

As of this comment,Joe Torre is no longer the Yankees skipper. The front office handled this poorly, showed a lack of respect and appreciation for what he has accomplished in his 12 years with the ballclub.I truly feel bad for Joe because he is a class act...he deserved better.Whether he will manage somewhere else next season or take some time off from the game...is anybody's guess...only Joe knows.

Mr Steinbrenner had a right to be disgusted. He spends 200mm on this team and the manager can not get this team out of the first round of the playoffs again. Joe Torre , faked it for the last several years. He had been known to get to the stadium at 3:00 pm for a night game. He would work out for an hour , then meet the press before each game. There was no preperation for a game and he also burnt out almost every pitcher in our bull pen. Addios.
