With College Football getting into the important part of the schedule, where conference play heats up and schools prepare for the stretch run,no doubt the debate about the current BCS system will kick into high gear.Personally,I do not think much of this system...what we really need is a good, old fashioned playoff system to decide the National Championship. My preference would be to take the top 16 teams in the country(based on their overall records,of course),and have a playoff system(number 1 team versus number 16,and so on),until you have two schools remaining. These two would battle for the National Championship on the night of January 1st,in prime time,at the Rose Bowl. The dreamer in me would love to see this...but realistically,it won't happen because you have too many corporate sponsors, too much money, too much politics, too many semantics and too many inflated egos to pacify...oddly enough, there are some that do like the current format, imperfect as it is.What do you think?

I think it sucks, but whaddya do? How do you rank 1-16? How do you get teams to add up to four more games into the season? Who's paying for all this? How do you tell the one big bowl sponsor who has sunk upwards of $1 billion dollars into a BCS game, they can only get a quarterfinal game at best? How do you sell this to the academic community - you need their support to get approval for scholarship monies as derived from all funds?
Ugh...big reason why I don't really get into college football much and I put no stock into the national "champion."

Report Offensive CommentAside from the BCS,the current Bowl system is questionable.I don't like it when you have schools with a 6 and 5 record earn a bowl bid...that's not right...it cheapens the system.

Report Offensive CommentTrying to figure out how to implement a playoff system for NCAA hurts my brain. It's bad enough trying to figure out how things are going to work in the current system. I personally would like it if they kept the bowl games, but just cut back so you actually had to have a good season to get in (although I do like getting one last fix of college football in dec/jan)

Report Offensive CommentI would propose that for schools to be eligible for a bowl, they should have a minimum EIGHT wins, instead of six or seven. That way, schools would need to earn their way to a bowl game.
