Guess what? People are mad at Bill Belichick. Why? Well, let's just say he's made a few interesting decisions lately. Some say he's justified. Some say he's a jerk. Die Hard Steel says he's an evil genius...and he's doing it on purpose.

Belichick has always been an arogant a@@ well before now. I think he didn't do it on purpose but has the arogance to think he can do anything without a consequence. When questioned about cheatgate he said would wait until the League ruled. Then once the league ruled he wouldn't comment except to say only talking about his next opponet. Way to step-up and be a leader. Gut-less.
Now he ran playaction on 4th and 2 up by more than 5tds in the 4th quarter. I have no problem if they go for it and just do an offtackle run man to man. But this is bushleague. He threw all over the field in MIami but not really upset their bc Miami was scoring pts. Then the real clueless but hardly mentioned ploy was up 14 in Dallas with less than a minute left in the game. He could have had Brady take a knee and run out the clock. Instead they dropped back to pass for a needless TD just to run up the score. Does he think this is the BCS system and needs to impress pollsters.
What would Bill have said to reporters, fans, his team if Brady got blindsided and was injured because he didn't have his team take a knee and run out the final seconds. What if it was tipped and picked off for a TD so Dallas could kick an onside kick down only 7. Its about winning. He had that and jeopardized it and his skill players health.
What an arrogant idiot

1972 Dolphine Classless? Here is some food for thought for all of you evil theory fanatics that believe Coach B his unhatching a well thought out plot.
Many said the Pats ran up the socre on Miami two weeks ago. Still others have said that the Pats will not go undefeated.
Did you know that in 1972, the undefeated Dolphins beat the
Patriots 52-0 in Miami on 11-12-72 in front of a home town crowd of 78,148 on their way to their 14-0 perfect season.? It seems that Coach B has a thing for NFL history and a long history. Payback is a b - i - t - c - h

Well win close or win big looks like patriot fans get their money's worth. The way the patriots were playing they could have pulled them at half time and still won easily. I enjoyed getting to watch the best in the game on the field longer. I typically enjoy competitive games more, but watching Brady and that offense play is entertaining. Why are fans complaining? Don't you want to watch the best play? Isn't that why people say the NFL is better than college?

Brilliant research, Larry. Did you know that on 10-29-07 I didn't care at all about the Dolphins beating the red out of the Patriots in 1972?
Very good point, Just A Fan, you're definitely right about that. Unlike certain Patriots fanatics on this site (read: Larry), I won't blindly support something. I am not taking a particular stance on this, I just wanted to present an angle of all of this that I haven't read yet.
I still just can't really get over how blatant he made the whole videotaping thing. Putting oneself into a guaranteed losing situation doesn't seem in line with such an intelligent thinker. It just seems like he's gotten far more out of getting caught than he had to pay for it.

If people don't like the Patriots scoring bunches of points, then maybe they should play better defense. What do they want them to do, take a knee with 9 minutes to go in the game?
Garbage time exists in basketball, just the same. It gives the backups a chance to get in some game action, i.e. Brady's backup. This game was a great chance for him to get some game action throwing the ball.
And this is coming from a non-Patriots fan.

That couls be true. just saying it could be, if your around coaches long enough you know they play head games, especially someone of Parcell's ilk...to the point of it, what would happen if Brady had gotten hurt doing that? Or Moss? Or Welker? What's the deal with Welker spiking the ball like he won the SB when they were already up 4 TD's? Joe Gibbs and his response is class Billy Boy and his actions are @ $ $. I wouldn't have minded losing, I wouldn't have minded losing 38-0, we all know they are good, but the 4th down going for it is unessacary ...Injuries do happen

Sundevil, I think more people have a problem with the fact the Patriots went for it on 4th and 2 with Brady under center, not Cassel, the backup.
It's a gray area, but it's the same gray area that an opponent of theirs is going to test by going at Brady's legs if he runs in open space in that kind of situation. I'm sure Patriots fans won't be as accepting for unspoken rules violations when they hear "Hey, if he doesn't want his knees capped, then he shouldn't run when he's up 38 points in the fourth quarter."

Or maybe the Pats shouldn't be going for it from the shotgun on 4th down with Brady still in the game up 45-7. Just a thought.....

Actually, i don't care if Bellichik (sp?) runs it up or not. Is it classless? Yes. Unsportsmanlike? Yes. But even more than that. It's stupid. One of the starters is going to get hurt. Maybe even Brady. Someone is going to take a cheap shot at him eventually. I respect Brady, but if he gets hurt when they are up 40 pts and running it up, I won't shed a tear.

whoa...1Hawkeye1..classless, unsportsmanlike....stupid? i dont think so, its football...the point of the game is to score points and win....s t u p i d. -oh yea, have a nice day. btw, we are talking about football right? not flag football...these are adults here right? ok..just making sure.

Carmen, if the purpose of the game is to score points, kicking a field goal gives them points, right? Please direct me to ONE situation in NFL history where a coach went for it on 4th and 2 from that close when he had an 8+ point lead. Ten times out of 10, he's kicking it.
Yet another aspect of this people seem to be overlooking...And amazingly enough, Carmen, those adults get injured fairly often BECAUSE they aren't playing flag football.
Ya know, maybe this is why I'm leaning toward thinking it was a cheap move...no one defending Belichick can come up with a plausible reason to justify what he's doing. Fanatics are so easily led...

Cooz why do you think anyone on Fanantion needs to defend Coach B's actions to you or anybody else for anything? Are you the NFL Moral Police Department or something? None of the media or sports experts see the need to defend his actions, because the people that know the game see nothing wrong with the way he is playing the game.
If you are on the 2 yard line, why not score? And anytime Brady goestto the line and sees a gap opening like that ,he is taught to sneak it in. That is what NFL quarterbacks are trained to do.
Frankly ,I see noting wrong with how the Pats played the game. Coach B's opposite, Coach Joe Gibbs, saw nothing wrong with the Pats play either. Why, then should anyone bother to defend that which is not wrong?
When asked, Joe Gibbs said after the game he had no problems whatsoever about how the Pats played and did not think the Pats were running up the score. I think I will listem to Gibbs and the other experts and not pay any attention to amateur critics who may be biased against Coach B and the Pats.
Nov 12, 1972 Miami 52 Patriots 0 Check the play be play of that game some day if you care to. You will be surprised. That is the year Miami was head and shoulders above everybody in the NFL and went undefeated --- same situtaion in 2007 with the Pats.

A tidbit from the 1972 Undefeated Miami Dolphins game against the Pats - Miami, the "class' of the NFL during their undefeated 1972season.
With the score 38-0 over the Patriots in the 4th quarter, Miami continued to go long down field. Here are the final two 4th qtr scores by Miami over the Patriots (who went 3-11 that year).
MIA - TD, Briscoe 51 pass (Yepremian kick)
MIA - TD, Mandich 39 pass (Yepremian kick
Correct me if I am wrong, but Tom Brady QB sneaks it in from the 2 yard line and he is a bum, and the FINS throw two very long passes to run up the score to its final of 52-0 and the Fins are forever crowned the best team ever and hailed as conquering heroes?
Oh, I get it --- they were not the evil empire New England patriots so how they played the game is deemed great and how the Pats played is deemed "classless" Well, that certainly clears it up for me.
The Pats finished 3-11 in 1972 and finished dead last. They were no threat to Miami in this game which came late in the schedule. Miami was playing at home and was cheered lustily on every score.
