Though Joe Girardi was teammates with him and caught him with the Chicago Cubs from 2000-2002, it would seem that Kyle Farnsworth's days as a New York Yankees reliever are running out.  One of Farnsworth's potential suitors could be the Detroit Tigers, with whom he pitched for in 2005.

With Todd Jones possibly exiting and Joel Zumaya likely done for the 2008 season, Farnsworth could be a fit for the closer spot.  The Tigers did inquire about Farnsworth during the trade deadline, but the Yankees were hesitant to eat the majority of his contract.

Farnsworth has endured two rocky season's in New York to say the least.  Fans have taken to booing him on a regular basis along with dubbing him with a nickname of "Farnsworthless."

The organization as well as the fans have clearly soured on Farnsworth when it comes to his attitude and the fact that he's only able to pitch one inning every other day.  Farnsworth fell out of favor when the Yankees resorted to calling up and converting rookie starter Joba Chamberlain into Mariano Rivera's set-up man in the pen.  Moving Farnsworth would not however signal a return to the bullpen for Chamberlain.

Look for the Yankees to potentially target 3rdbaseman Brandon Inge or given the Tigers log-jam in the outfield and Carlos Guillen being shifted to 1stbase, ex-Yankee Marcus Thames could be a possibility for the Yankees at 1stbase as well.
