The Philadelphia Phillies traded Michael Bourn (a rising talent with speed), Geoff Geary (an inconsistent bullpen pitcher), and Mike Constanzo (a minor league 3rdbasemen with potential supposedly) for the Astro's Eric Bruntlett (a SS who can hopefully go to 3rd...at least I hope that's what the Phils are thinking by acquiring him) and finally Brad Lidge (a dominant closer when he is consistent and healthy). I am surprised that the Phils would trade Bourn, but Jayson Werth and Shane Victorino are just fine in the outfield with Pat Burrell. I don't know if this trade means the Phils re-sign Rowand, but thats another post for another day. But the real issue here is the Phils don't have an everyday 3rd baseman and I don't think trading away your best minor league man for the position is smart unless it's to get a good starting 3rd baseman. Not a guy like Bruntlett, who doesn't even play 3rd. But maybe this was to get another infielder and a deal with another 3rd basemen (Lowell maybe...) is in the works. Or they may even give Tad Iguchi a new contract and put him at 3rd. Who knows? But the even bigger issue in this trade...now that the Phils have Brad Lidge...where will Brett Myers go? From what I read he is going to go back to the starting rotation as either the #2 man or 1A. Whatever that means, one thing is clear...MYERS IS GOING BACK TO THE ROTATION. YES! This is huge, because look at this rotation now. 1) Cole Hamels 2) Brett Myers 3) Kyle Kendrick 4) Jamie Moyer 5) Do I dare predict any further?? So I like the action so far...let's hope they keep this up.

Yeah, the rotation looks better. Brad Lidge might be very good because he's finally out of Houston. He needed to get out of there.

Prediction: On his first game for Philly, Albert Pujols homerun lands within 12 feet of the pitchers mound.
