Stephon Marbury was 30,000 feet in the air on Monday when he learned that his run with the Knicks was about to crash and burn. The Daily News has learned that Marbury made his decision to return to home to New York once he was informed on the charter plane Monday afternoon that he would not be starting against the Suns. "Isiah has to start me," Marbury fumed, according to the source. "I've got so much (stuff) on Isiah and he knows it. He thinks he can (get) me. But I'll (get) him first. You have no idea what I know." It is unclear if Marbury made the same threat directly to Isiah Thomas, whose first big move as team president was trading for Marbury.

Oh Lord, Stephon. Why? All Summer long you have made one comment after another, sticking your 15 dollar shoe further and further into your mouth. The sad thing is you are a good guy at heart. I believed you when in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina when you held a tear-filled press conference. I believed that you were hurting for the people in the tragedy who lost their lives, and for the ones who survived that lost their loved ones. I understand what you went through to get to this point. You saw your big brothers brought down by the streets of Coney Island, and that your Mom determined to see you make it out protected you from the harms of the street and guided you to where you are now, the starting point guard of the New York Knicks.

Well wait, you are not starting any more are you? You achieved your dreams but yet you continually throw it away. You throw it away by not learning to play with your team, by not learning to defer to a bigger named star, you throw it away by not growing up and realizing that you are not a star, Starbury. Do you realize that every former team you had got better after they got rid of you? The Timberwolves improved when they dealt you to the Nets, the Nets improved after they dealt you to the Suns, and the Suns improved after they dealt you to the Knicks. Stephon, you have seen Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, and even Sam Cassell take your former teams to places you have never reached. Why? Because those point guards have done and continue to do the one thing you have not since you were playing for Lincoln and that is lead. They are leaders, while you continue to embarass yourself and those like me who have followed your career since they were in Junior High School.

Yes, FanNation this is personal for me. I have followed Steph since he got to Lincoln. I'm from Brooklyn too and I understand all too well what he has come from. I'm not saying any of that to make excuses because an environment should not define a man's choices. Only he can do what he does. What Stephon has done is not be a leader to a team that needs it, he disappoints the only coach that has really believed in him in Isiah Thomas, and by threatening him with blackmail (that's the best word for this) he disappoints people like me who are a fan of him. Yes, I have made fun of him in the past but at the end of the day: it's personal and I hurt.
