Give sports back to the amatuers. The Olympics used to be an event the whole world looked forward to. All the major sports championships couldn't come close to the drama of the olympics. That was when the olympics were played by amatuers. The individual events were filled with kids from all over the world that competed for the glory of their country. Now, we see self-centered, ego-maniacs who play to boost their dollar value. We see huge Nike symbols all over every part of every uniform ( not just nike but surely they are one of the worst ). $$$$$$$. Sports has become all about the money. And I don't include college sports, as long as there is a pro league, as amatuer sport. College athletes are playing for results in college to boost their dollar value in the pros. As long as college athletics is willing to allow young men to join pro leagues after completing only a year or two of academics then college is just a training facility for pros not an amatuer arena. Again, I also see huge coporate sponsors of colleges. Sponsorship=$$$, therefore not amatuer. If college athletics is about "team" then why are the individual names on the back of each athletes jersey?? Why even have numbers anymore? What is wrong with not having any professional sports? Nothing. Just think if all that $$$$$$$ was redirected to worthy causes, mankind. The message society sends children is that if you run faster and or jump higher you deserve to have a different set of rules and you deserve to be paid lots of money. ?????????????? BAN PROFESSIONAL SPORTS and watch the world become a better place.
