First off the disappointment... Of course this years football team. After playing very close to Auburn then beating Texas who would have thought that this year would end up wondering if we're going to hit the .500 mark let alone be bowl eligible? This is Prince's second year as head coach and this season is worse than last one... I'm not saying Prince should be fired or anything like that. But if this type of stuff is still happening two years from now yeah I will say Prince needs to be let go. There are many different reasons why we can't win right now and I've heard all the reasons one could even think of. Shoot after last weeks embarrassing loss to Nebraska one person said "Our defense is good its our offense that needs work." I looked at him for a while and then asked "Are you retarded? We just let the team that got beat by ku 76-39 score over 70 points on us, and you're saying our defense is good?" I'm very surprised at the excuses I have the priviledge of hearing. But we'll see in the next few years if we can get the once great team we were.
Now for the good part, our basketball team. I have already said in my previous blogs that our team is good, and they are. I went to last nights game against Western Illinois and I will say, we need experience. Sure right now we have Clent Stewart at the point, but that is only one person. We really need David Hoskins to get healed up and playing. Blake Young is out there and after the first game I thought he was a lot better than last year. I was ready to start chearing for him, but now after these last two games I cringe every time he touches the ball. Hopefully he gets back to the way he played the first game. But experience is needed right now, we are kind of like the football team right now, inconsistant. But not inconsistent from game to game but during games. We went on an 11-0 run at one time, but not five minutes later Western Illinois was right back there in it. Finally at the end we were able to pull out ahead and never look back. Good things that came from the game was to see that more people than just Michael Beasley can score. Beasley had only 5 points in the first half, and we still had the lead at halftime, much of that was due to the presence of Bill Walker. It was also good to see that Beasley stepped up when he needed to. But right now all that matters is that we when, but when it starts coming to big games, like the Oregon game coming up, we are going to have to keep up the momentum and play our A game the whole game. Hopefully we will be ready for them, and be able to give them all they can handle, who knows we could even pull off a good upset.
