I was checking out some of the blogs on the site and, it got me thinking a little..., what if? What if the NHL reverted back to the 21-23 team league in the eighties? Where would Sid, Ovechkin, Stall be right now? Would Eric Stall be in Hartford..., Sid playing alongside Jagr and Francis? I loved the older NHL and everytime I think back on it, I see Mario in the 1991 playoffs in Minnesota, breaking through two defensemen on a breakaway and scoring on Casey! That was a moment that made me a Pens fan..., just watching that guy deke his way around those two and score was..., awe inspiring you know? Kind of like #99 in his glory days..., you rarely see that anymore. Granted, the Ovechkin goal in Phoenix last year was remarkable but..., how many players can break through a defense like #66 or #99 could huh? Sid maybe..., Stall possibly but, I can't think of anyone else who could do that. I look back on what has happened in the league since I started watching the game in 1985 or so..., Gretz crying cause he got traded, Lemiuex's cancer scares..., the Oil becoming a dynasty and I think, is there a team out there who could become a dynasty? And the answer...? NO! Not with free angecy, the cap, 30 teams..., not possible! Although I will say this..., there maybe be one team on the verge of dynasty but, it probably won't be happening and that's Ottawa..., with that first line and a team defense rivalling the old Oilers..., they could do it. But I am not holding my breath! Maybe the Sens will become dynasty before the Leafs win the Cup huh? Anyway..., gotta run..., it's been fun.
