FanNation - The Republic of Sport

I hope every member of FanNation has had a great Thanksgiving, because I know I did. My High School Football team beat their annual rival which last year's game between Easton and P'burg was televised live on ESPN 2! (Look it up if you don't believe our luck! That game is the longest running HS rivalry in the country, and last year was the 100th game.) My Easton Red Rovers won 17-6, and in case you were wondering this was the 101st meeting. Now onto some other things....Brett Farve? WOW! These Packers are serious about getting him his second ring...Peyton Manning finally broke out of his slump and got me three TDs for some much needed fantasy help...Dallas? what else is new? And did ASU actually have that game tied at 17-17 at one time. Yeah, right. Now that's my take on Turkey Day 2007. Time for Rivalry Week I picks...

 -Arkansas/LSU- I'm going to have to go with my SI guy Stewart Mandel here. What would an LSU game be without last minute drama? It will go down to the wire, but LSU pulls out yet another one...27-24.

-Boise St./Hawaii- A healthy Colt Brennan won't be enough to beat this Boise St. team. But BSU lacks the offense to outscore Hawaii don't they? Hawaii:31-28 (low scoring for these two no?)

-Texas/Texas A&M-Inconsistency can't beat Colt McCoy, Jamaal Charles, and UT can it? But the Aggies at home in what may be Franchione's last game? Tough pick, but I just think Charles puts the Aggies in their place. UT:31-14

- WVA/UCONN- Well this should be interesting...UCONN at Morgantown with the Big East Championship on the line? I don't believe it, and it won't happen as long as White takes care of that ball. WVA:23-13

- UVA/VT-I had a throwdown a couple of weeks ago in which I tried to prove UVA was overrated. Well I lost that one, but despite what you may think, they still are. It will be close, but Ore and the Hokies D take it in front of a wild UVA crowd. VT:17-6

-GA/GT- Has anyone seen how good Moreno and the Dawgs have been playing lately? That loss to Tenn. is long gone and so is poor GT. Dawgs: 42-13

-ALA/AUB- Now I'm not a Saban fan, but what he said this week? He didn't mean it that way, but the media needs something to talk about. Well maybe they can talk about this game...ALA:21-17

-OU/OK.ST- Simply put Stoops can't afford another tough upset loss? Bradford not only cleared to play but he will clear the Cowboys out of the stadium. OU:42-13

-FLA/FLA.ST- Tebow better watch out. This rivalry usually brings in two talented and very good teams. The past couple of years? Not so, and regardless of whatever happens to Tebow the Gators pull it out in the Swamp. FLA: 28-16 

- SCAR/CLEM- Both teams saw great possiblities disappear in front of them. But I think the Tigers have more to lose, and that's why they will win. CLEM:20-7

-ORE/UCLA- The Ducks better enjoy Pasadena this time around, because there may not be a next time. But Dorrell might be saving to pull the upset next week against the Southern Cal boys. Tough pick, but maybe the Duck's RB Stewart can win this one. ORE: 26-16

No I didn't forget....

-KU/Mizzou- Reesing's a good quarterback without many weapons and a good defense. Daniels has a lot of weapons, but a suspect defense. It's hard to pick against the feel good undefeated Jayhawks, but surprisingly it's even tougher to pick against Mizzou. The quality win against Illinois and a hard fought loss to the Sooners is all that seperates Mizzou from being in the same "weak schedule" talk that KU is in. This win will help distance them even further, maybe into the title game? Mizzou- 38-35 (I want KU to win, but I just don't see it...)
